Levi and I now sit at our dining room table. Sweet and orange chicken with rice sit before us as we eat Chinese takeout for breakfast.

Ollie and Millie lie on the wooden floor with their eyes bright, and eyes flashing back and forth.

Levi takes a sip of his tea and looks up at me. "Do you have any homework left?" He questions, eyes gleaming.

I shake my head no, "I've finished my math and physical science. Along with Spanish." I reply.

He ruffles the today's newspaper and gets up, taking the once filled takeout boxes with him. "Do you want to go to school today?" He asks, his tone calm.

My mind ponders on his question. The last time I ever got this opportunity was in 6th grade, because it was right before spring break, and instead of going to school, I would be able to spend the day watching some anime, or just browsing the internet. That's more appealing than going to the school.

"Yeah. That would be fun." I answer.

"Alright. Just don't tell Erwin." I could have sworn I saw a smirk on his face.

I laugh with glee and pet Millie's ears. Her brown eyes shimmer with excitement. This will be interesting.

For the first few hours of no school, I sat in the living room with my phone in hand, and a message from Annie.

Annie: You still alive?

Thais: Yea. just sick

Annie: good luck

Always a short response from Annie. She's always quick and straight to the point.

I can hear Levi's music blasting as he works on his latest project. A painting of the mountains that we live close by, one's that we see everyday. The abstract colours of red and purple collide in a soothing manner, and swirls of the wind add as subtle details.

He does have an eye for the arts. Growing up, Levi would tell me stories of how he first got into art, and would show my some of his first paintings.

Each would improve with time and effort.

Sadly I really don't know much about his side of the family, except for his twin Lani, and that his parents were never really around.

The only contact that I got from them was from Levi's mother, about six years ago, she sent me a Christmas card and a photo of her and her cats.

Her long ebony hair flowing over her shoulders, and her somber grey eyes. Her skins was as pale as the moon, I would have loved to meet her.

Levi has been mostly silent about his childhood, except when his mother passed away. That was the first time I saw him truly depressed, and hopeless about his mother.

As for dad he mostly got to grow up in Latin America, speak Spanish, and learn about other cultures. And he is already back there, seeing abuela and abuelo (his adoptive parents). Each are loving and caring souls, and care very much for this family.

Upstairs Levi turns off his music, and swings the door wide open.

Millie and Ollie sit up, eyes wide with alert.

"Thais, come here." Levi slowly walks down the stairs, his features are neutral.

We slowly go into the livingroom, and he sits down. "Before I tell you. Remember that Erwin and I are okay with any decision that you would make." He begins.

I blink, "What do you mean?" I ask Levi.

He leans forward, and takes a deep breathe. "This."

He holds his phone up for me to see a email from the adoption agency, the one that I was adopted from.

I gulp, my heads start to shake. "T-They want to meet me." I stutter those words.

My birth parents want to meet me. Me, Thais.

"Levi. I need time to think about this." I explain to him.

"Fair enough." He replies.
