"THIS is not happening."
Margo's demand was stern, and Jacob heard the anger in her tone clearly. She pushed him into a side room, just feet away from the office they were once standing in with the Cullens. As soon as Margo heard Carlisle ask for the wolves' aid in the fight, she was immediately against it. Sure, her bias towards the pack was coming out, but she would not let her boyfriend be involved in a fight that wasn't his problem in the first place. Margo wanted Bella to be protected – don't get her wrong – but not at the cost of Jacob. She couldn't agree to that.
"I'm not letting you or the pack be involved in this fight," she continued. Jacob opened his mouth to speak, but Margo shoved her finger on his lips. "No, are you listening to me? You're not going. End of story! I won't stand around and wait for you to get killed in a bloodbath, Jake. Its not going to happen."
The imprint's hold on Jacob was tugging him in one direction, while his moral conscious was going a different way. No matter what, he knew their bond would tell him to follow Margo's orders. He was bound to her forever, and the imprint was so strong that she could make him do anything. But Jacob had to disagree this time. He wanted to protect everyone he cared about, especially her.
And this caused him to reply, "Margo, you have to leave town."
She blinked at him, taken aback by his statement. "What?"
"I know that you don't want me in this fight, but being here in Forks will only get us both caught in the crossfire." He grabbed her hands, caressing his large thumbs over her soft skin.
Margo shook her head. "Then ... why can't you just come with me? We can leave for a few days. Just you and me."
Jacob bit the inside of his cheek. "I can't do that, Mar. Sam's not gonna want these bloodsuckers rolling into town, and we're all gonna be ordered to fight. I would do anything you ask of me, but not this. I have to fight. Us being so far away will cause me a tremendous amount of physical pain, but I have to get used to it now, and you have to leave Forks for a few weeks."
"So you expect me to leave town while you go out and kill yourself?" She asked incredulously. "Yeah, that makes a lot of sense."
"Mar, I'm trying to protect you so you don't die. Can you be the least bit reasonable about this and see it from my side?" Jacob hissed, annoyance laced in his tone. "You and Jenny need to go to California. Don't you have relatives there?"
She bit her lip for a second, thinking over the family members that still lived in her home state. "My uncle lives in Sacramento, but I know Jenny isn't going to want to leave. And neither do I! I'm not going to leave and live in fear while you go out and fight. How could you actually expect that from me?!"
