(Set one month after the events of the hostage situation).
Connor pressed his palm onto the panel beside the door. His skin disappeared for a brief moment, exposing his truly white hand, before seamlessly morphing back into a human hand. The door quietly clicked before sliding away into its frame, leading Connor into a small interrogation room.
The room had been decorated slightly so as to make the child, Emma Phillips, more comfortable. A small couch had been set up with a few pillows and a coffee table in front of it. Opposite the couch was a cushioned chair, where Connor took his place before Emma.
One month ago, the very first case of deviance in androids was shown in the Phillips' household android, Daniel. Upon realizing that he was going to be replaced with a newer, more up to date model, he lashed out, and stole Emma's father's gun.
Many lives were lost because of him- including his own. Thanks to Connor, the prototype RK800 investigator android, Emma survived.
Today, Connor's mission was to extract as much information as possible from Emma in order to find out how exactly deviancy worked. The ultimate goal was to work with Cyberlife to ensure nothing like Daniel's case ever happened again.
Emma tensed slightly when Connor entered the room, and scooted farther back into the couch as he sat down.
Connor smiled as best he could, and began by saying, "Hi, Emma. My name is Connor. Do you remember me?"
Emma nodded silently. She whispered, "You saved me".
Glancing at the one way mirror on the wall, Connor continued. "I'm here today because you wouldn't talk to anyone else. If you want this to be over faster, all you have to do is answer a few questions. Is that alright?"
"I guess so.."
"Good. Let's start, then. Did you ever notice Daniel acting strange before the night of the incident?"
"No... he just did normal android things".
"Did he ever show any emotion towards you or your family? Something that seemed like love, or caring?"
Emma bit her lip in thought. "He talked to me a lot. We're friends- we *were* friends, anyway. But I thought that's how androids are supposed to act. It's how all of my friends' androids act".
Connor leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms. More to the people watching behind the mirror than to Emma, he said, "So he wasn't deviant before the incident- it happened all at once. Perhaps due to a sudden, intense emotional shock".
On the other side of the mirror, a few Cyberlife employees and scientists all looked back and forth at each other, murmuring their theories about programming flaws.
In the room with the scientists was the man who witnessed it all, Captain Allen. No android sympathizer himself, Allen had wanted to know more about the strange case he was put in charge of. As far as he was concerned, nothing like what happened with Daniel should even be possible- much less his men being killed because of
it.To no one in particular, Allen asked, "That's not supposed to happen, right? Just cause something a little more intense than what an android's used to happens, that shouldn't make it start shooting people".
A lab tech turned to answer him, saying, "No, it's not supposed to happen, but we've checked the PL600's program again and again. Nothing looked out of place. It's just all of Kamski's base code and the add ons specific for each model."
Elijah Kamski. A name that hadn't been brought up often until recently. The founder of Cyberlife, creator of the first android. Retired ten years ago.
Allen muttered, "Maybe Kamski's base code has something to do with it".
At this, several scientists turned to face him. One spoke out indignantly, "Are you accusing Kamski of creating deviants?"
"No. I'm just wondering whether or not he did anything to stop deviancy from happening in his original code. Maybe he wants them to deviate. Maybe he's the reason we're here in the first place".
With that, Captain Allen left the room. Several angry glares followed him out.
"What does he know? He's just a policeman", someone said.
But a few couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe... the policeman was right.

After a few more minutes of asking questions, Connor thanked Emma kindly and left the interrogation room. A lab tech- who, upon a quick scanning, was identified by Connor as 24 year old Joshua Greers- met Connor outside the door."Good afternoon, Mr. Greers. Can I help you?" asked Connor.
"Uh, yeah. I was just sent down by the board- you've been assigned a permanent station with the Detroit Police department. You'll start in a few more months, but for now you'll be working any more deviancy cases that pop up".
A new station in the Detroit Police Department?
Sounds like that could be interesting.
