I tighten my ponytail as my brown mid-length hair decided not to cooperate with me,  as I walked out the door waiting for my eldest sister Kat to get out of the house so we could make it to school without being late once more.

I shouted from inside the house to her "GET OUT HERE WE ARE GONNA BE LATE!"

"On my way," Kat said running outside her long auburn hair flowing in the air as she tried to tame it.

"Stop making us late all the time," I replied annoyed.

"I'm sorry beauty takes time," Kat said walking away from the house headed for the school.

We walk to the private school we attended which wasn't very far from home when we reach it we head to our separate classes. My sister and I are 2 years apart. Me being 15, and her being 17. Both born with brown eyes that are just about as dark as wet mud we get it from our mom. I sat at a desk and looked around dozing off into my thoughts, the teacher turning on the daily morning news and we all sat to listen, everything has been pointing towards world war 3, and, I guess we weren't shocked about what was about to occur.

"The president of the United States has declared world war 3 as of today," The newscaster declared.

"World war 3?" Some kid sitting next to me questioned gulping nervously.

A dude behind me sat up from his chair in a panic "ARE WE GONNA GET NUKED?!"

"Now. Now. Everyone calm down it's all gonna be fine," Our teacher said laughing at everyone's reaction.

My heart started racing, but I contained myself, of course, everything will be alright "Question? What is going through a war like?"

My teacher sat grabbing the remote to turn the tv off to keep us all from panicking "Umm I'm not sure, to be honest, but, I know we will all be alright."

An emergency warning turns on the tv just as my teacher goes to turn it off. "Warning a nuclear bomb is being launched our way everyone, evacuate to a safe zone."

I stood up following the panic from the kids around "A nuclear bomb?! I thought you said we'd all be fine! Where's a safe zone??"

My teacher ran out of the classroom as she yelled: "Everybody run, I lied!"

I looked around trying to get a grip of my senses, I gotta get to Kat, I ran out the classroom looking around trying to ignore all the noise of people running around and screaming, just as I was about to give up I ran into Kat "WE NEED TO GO HOME!"

Kat looked at me trying to remain calm "Believe me when I say we have no time."

My eyes widened "What are we supposed to do then?!"

"We don't have time to talk, we need to go now!"

"Where?! We are gonna die" I yelled as my heart pounded through my chest.

"It was obvious world war 3 was gonna start," Kat said. "Nevermind that, let's go!"

"What about everybody else?" I asked, "Our family?"

Kat grabbed my arm causing me to lunge forward and run as well "Dad can take care of them! The thing is we need to go, like NOW!"

Kat dusted the dirt on the ground throwing twigs left and right to reveal a metal door that led underground. She opened it and we jumped in, she shut the metal door, and we were left in the cold darkness. Kat turned on a flashlight, finding a light switch and turning it on, the whole place filled with warm light. The shelves were filled with food the room was long and there were two doors which I have no idea where they lead to.

"What is this Kat?"

Kat reached over to a shelf grabbing gas masks and tossing one over to me "Hold on stop with the questions and take this."
