My eyes widened, and I felt the blood drain out of my face.
"What?" I asked in disbelief. Why would Dean possibly want me to do that? That was glacial melt! I could get hypothermia or something!
"You heard me," he said smugly, his smirk still annoyingly plastered on his face. "And you don't have any chickens left either."
I rolled my eyes realizing this had been his plan all along. Give me ridiculous dares I would never do and make me use all my chickens. I made a small sound of disgust, and rolled my eyes.
"Dean, you know this is suicide, right?" I asked him, making sure he understood.
Dean chuckled. "Please. It's just a little cold water." I hesitated for a second before replying.
"Fine," I said.
"Really?"
"But only if you go with me," I added. Dean crossed his arms and wagged a finger.
"No, no, no, those aren't the rules. I don't have to go with you, and if you try and dare me, I'll just use a chicken," he replied. I rolled my eyes.
"Come on Dean, if I can do it, you can do it," I said. Dean snorted and ate the last of his mashed potatoes. I sighed and tried taunting him. "Or are you just not man enough to do it?"
Dean gave me a scathing look and I swear I would have withered if I didn't have a sliver of pride left.
"Don't try to taunt me into doing this. I have no interest in 'how man I am', and I most likely will never care," He said before picking up his plate and carrying it to the sink. I felt my gut twist uneasily. It seemed like I had somehow insulted him, but I wasn't exactly sure how. I heard the clink of his plate in the sink, and I started, looking up.
Dean stared at me, an unreadable expression on his face. I watched him for a second before he surprised me by saying, "Alright, if it means that much to you, I'll go with you."
I released a breath I didn't know I had been holding, and quickly stood up, carrying my empty plate to the sink and dropping it in next to Dean's.
"Okay," I said. "Let's go."
"Wait!" He called. I stopped and turned around, an eyebrow raised.
"Yes?"
"On one condition," he said, a smirk back on his face. I felt my heart sink slightly. I didn't want to do this alone, but if it wasn't for Dean, I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
"What's that?" I asked, resigned.
"You can't get out until I say so."
Dean nodded sharply, and I blew out the candles, using my phone's flashlight to illuminate the room. We walked out of the house and down a different trail towards the lake. The smell of the pine needles was comforting, and I smiled as a warm breeze ruffled my hair.
We made it down to the lake relatively quickly, and I led Dean over to a private dock for the cabin. The lights that normally made the water shimmer green and gold at night were gone, leaving the water inky black, save for the one spot of silver where the moon shone down. It was only a crescent, so it didn't shed much light.
I shivered and realized that I was still half naked. I mentally smacked myself.
"Dammit," I hissed. "We forgot to bring towels."
Dean ganced at me, but he didn't look worried. Instead, he shrugged and started pulling off his shoes. I left mine on the side of the dock and tried not to watch as Dean once again undressed. I focused on getting the buckle on my belt undone, and succeeded. I let my pants fall to the ground in a heap, and I stepped out of them, shivering at the lack of warmth.
