PETER
The last few months have been rocky between me and May. For the first week she found out I was Spider-Man she barely spoke to me, then she become overly strict before Tony had a long talk with her and she began to let me patrol at night.
Tonight though I wasn't meant to go out. We had a fight over whether I was neglecting school for avengers stuff. Fridays are usually our movie nights, I come straight home from school and we alternate who gets to choose what we watch.
For once I'm not in my Spider-Man outfit. It sits in my bag and I stay in the outfit I wore to school. My legs dangle off the edge of some building, and I lean back, looking at the sky.
I know our fights never last. And in some ways they're refreshing, it gives me the impression I have parents more. It's weird, but after we fight and make up it just seems so much better than it was before.
I know I'll apologise and I know we'll figure something out, but for now I stay where I am, wrongly letting her worry as her third call goes to voicemail.
After about an hour of silence from her I decide to head home. I put my mask over my head and use the webs to swing myself to my balcony where I climb in through the faulty window.
I make sure to make noise so that she knows I'm back, but I don't call out to her and she doesn't come looking for me.
I change into tracksuit bottoms and take my shirt off, ready for bed and lie down before I feel as though something is wrong. I take the mask from where I'd thrown it on the floor and pull it over my head and make sure my web slingers are attached to my wrist.
I open the door to a dimly lit hallway. My hair on my arms is standing up and I edge quietly towards the kitchen.
'May?' I call out, just before I open the door. And then I freeze where I am. May lies on the kitchen floor, blood pouring out of two gun shots-one to the head and one to the heart. 'Oh no, oh no no.' I say as I fall to her side and quickly start to check her heartbeat despite knowing he inevitable.
'Call from Tony Stark.' Karen says as I ignore it and continue to hover over her body, unsure how to act, what to do. I start breathing heavily as Karen automatically accepts the call.
'Kid. I got high heart rate on your suit are...' He looks up and sees me struggling to breathe, 'Kid what's going on?' I'm unable to answer and I see him turn away from the people surrounding him and start to walk towards an exit. 'Okay, Pete, I'm on my way, don't hang up I-' I hang up as soon as he mentions it.
My knees are drenched in May's blood as are my hands. I take her hands for a moment but end up backed against the wall, in a ball, rocking back and forth.
