Spider-Man joins the avengers

Part 26

TONY

We've been back at the compound for an hour, and while Steve and I have tried desperately to round everyone up, everyone is caught in their own ties. Clint hasn't come out of his room since he got here, Bruce and Shuri were working on their resistance and last I saw Peter went down to join them.
Darcy had let her cats out in the sitting room and she was now sitting on the sofa with Natasha and Pepper.
'I don't get how you're so calm about this.' Pepper says, stroking one of the cats, 'it's brilliant, but I don't understand it.'
'Well once you spend any amount of time with Thor you get kind of passive about everything. I worked with scientists as well and I was just surrounded by people who knew a lot more than me. So I just sort of go with whatever people tell me to do and make it work.' She says.
'And Thor knows you've named this cat after him?' Pepper asks, apprehensive.
'Of course. He came down to visit last month. He keeps up to date as much as he can.' She says.
'Wait,' I say, cutting into the conversation, 'he comes to visit you?'
'Oh yeah. Just small check ins. Ever since Jane had that weird cosmic body malfunction he feels kind of responsible for us.' She says.
Just then, a crash of lightning hits the centre of the landing site outside.
'For God's sake. I told him to land in the forest.' Natasha says, frustrated.
I wait for Thor to reach the door and then speak through the speaker.
'Hey there buddy. We're on the top floor.' I say.
'Is everyone okay?' Thor asks quickly.
'Wanda and Vision are protecting Dr.Selvig in London, Darcy's up here with us.' I explain.
'Are her cats okay?' He asks after a second's thought.
'Just come up here.' I say and cut off. It takes almost a minute before the lift doors open up and Thor steps out. Darcy jumps up and runs into a hug.
'Darcy! It is good to see you.' He says, returning the hug.
'Some woman attacked me in my house.' She says, weirdly excited about it.
'Fantastic.' He says, smiling back, 'Mjolnir!' He says, picking up the cat, 'Thor Junior!' He says as he picks up the other. 'So Tony, you called.' He turns to me.
Thor is probably the most imposing of any of the avengers, apart from The Hulk, but to see him standing, in full Asgardian armour, holding a cat in each hand, puts a new perspective on everything.
'I called. Yes.' I say as I gather my thoughts, 'conference room in ten minutes. Everyone, no exception bar Clint. He's got his kids to worry about.'
