Laura's POV ~>

I woke up at 5 am and got ready for school. I have to start getting up early so I can clean and stuff in the morning. I hopped in the shower and quickly washed up. I heated my curling iron up and started on my makeup. Once I was done I picked out my outfit.

I walked down the stairs and grabbed the dusting materials. These Four Walls of the house are getting on my nerves. I want to live, I want to explore the world, but instead I'm stuck in this place, being a maid because my parent's busniess went bankrupt and they couldn't afford to take proper care of me. I hope soon enough they get the money back. I hate it here.

I came back up to my room and grabbed my guitar and strummed. I have to admit, as much as I appriciated that Ross's family took me in, we're exact opposities. At school today, he better not think I'll be any more than an aquaintence to him. He's just so cocky and thinks that the world owes him something. Last night I was thankful for being taken in, so I was in a general good mood.

Don't count on that today Ross.

I was writing in my songbook when Ross's mother came in. "Laura, there was a phone call for you," she said, handing me the phone. I took it from her and put the phone to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Hey Laur, it's Maia,"

"Maia, thank goodness,"

"Laura, what happened. Why are you at Ross's house?"

"Uhm, it's a long story, I'll tell you later,"

"Okay, you better,"

I hung up after that. I have a lot to explain to her. "Who was that," Ross asked, walking into my room with coffee in hand and no shirt.

"None of your buisness," I said, putting the phone down. "Damnit Laura, you're in a bad mood," he said. "No, I'm just being me," I said. Ross rolled his eyes and sipped his coffee.

"What happened to last night," Ross asked, looking at me. I let out a sarcastic laugh. "Last night. Hah, yeah right," I said to myself.

"What?" Ross asked. "Whatever Ross, just go away I have cleaning to do," I said. Ross rolled his eyes and was about to leave when his parents rushed in. "Laura honey, I have some terrible news," his mom breathed out.

Oh no, that's not good.

"Uhm, what is it?" I said looking at Ross with scared eyes. He looked at me sympathetically.

His parents looked at eachother and back at me.

"Your parents  were in the midst of trying to regain the money they lost in their bankrupcy when their files were hacked into. Apparently these criminals have been planning to rob them for months. They were killed in the accident of trying to regain their company. I"m so terribly sorry honey," she finished and gave me a big hug.

I was in shock but I hugged back. I couldn't cry because in that moment in time I forgot how to breathe.

"Sweetie, I've filled out some legal documents and you're welcome to stay here for as long as you want. I won't make you be a maid anymore," she said.

I pulled away and forced a smile.

"T-Thank you," I said quietly. She smiled and left the room. I collapsed on my bed, crying my eyes out. Ross sat down beside me. He wrapped his arms around me.

"I know how you feel," he said in a hushed tone.

"How could you possibly understand?" I said, through tears.

"Because when I was 13 the rest of my siblings got killed in a car crash. Three brothers and my one sister. I miss them, a lot," Ross sniffled.

Then he started crying and held me closer. I pulled him closer into me and we both just cried into eachothers shoulders.

And in that one tragic moment, Ross gave me the slightest bit of hope.

Sorry guys, it's kind of a downer, but it's part of the plot. I love and greatly appriciate every single one of you.
