Laura's POV ~>

Should I tell him the truth? I mean I'm his maid now, I literally work for Ross and his family. I am extremely gracious that they took me in, but being a maid will squash any chance I have of being able to attend university and become something successful.

I decided to give him the short version of what happened.

"My parents lost tons of money within a family thing, and they couldn't afford to take care of me anymore," I told him. Ross's eyes saddened. "Oh Laura, I'm so sorry," Ross said, patting my back. I wiped away a few tears. "It's whatever now, I mean, it doesn't matter," I said getting up and walking downstairs.

"Is there anything I can do Mrs.Lynch," I said, putting my apron on. "At the moment, you could maybe clean up the kitchen from lunch," she answered. "Okay, and I was wondering if I could ask you a question?" I shyly asked.I

"Sure sweetie, what can I help you with," she said, putting her magazine down. "Uhm, will I still be attending school?" I asked. She laughed a little and replied.

"Hun, you have to attend school, I'd never take that away from you. Ross will drive you every morning," she said. Oh great, the high school bad boy will be showing up with just another average girl who people probably think he slept with or something.

That's not who I am.

"Uhm, no he doesn't have too. The school isn't far, I can walk," I say, unconvincingly. She looked at me like I was insane. "It's about 4 miles from here," she said, smiling. Damn it. No walking. Maia could pick me up.

"My best friend can take me to school," I told her, coming up with another solution. "He already will be," she said, diving back into her magazine. "No, not Ross, he's not my best friend," I told her. "What? He said the only real friend he has is named Laura and last time I checked that's your name," she said simply.

"We're frenimies," I told her. "Whatever you are, he's your ride," she said, reading the magazine. That was my que to clean up lunch.

The kitchen was a mess. There were dirty plates in the sink, the table was dirty, and I'm pretty sure there was spilled eggs on the floor. This was going to be awhile.

I was vacuming the rug in the family room when the door bell rang. I turned off the vacum and went over to the door. I smoothed over my apron and opened up the door. A girl with dark brown hair and glasses stood there, smiling.

"Hi! You must be Laura," she said shaking my hand and coming in. "Uh, hi?" I said a little confused. "Oh, excuse me, where are my manners," she said, "My name's Kailey, basically a daughter to Stormie,"  she said, grabbing an apple off the table.

Ross shuffled down the stairs. "Sup Kai," he said, going to get a bottle of water. "Nothing much. When'd you guys get a maid?" she questioned him. Ross checked the clock.

"Uhhm, about four hours ago," she said and plopped on the couch. "Ross! Laura was cleaning that!" Kailey said, pulling him off. I smiled. I kinda like her.

I walked into my room after cleaning the whole day. Stormie was quite impressed with what I had done and told me I had already gotten a raise. I turned on my lamp and grabbed the book 'Romeo and Juliet' and started reading. Not long after I heard Ross come in.

"That's a good book," he said taking a place next to me on the bed. I was under the covers, but he wasn't.

"It's a classic, of course it's good," I told him, still focused on the literature enclosed in the book.

"So, do you like Kailey?" he asked. I nodded my head and smiled. "Yeah she's cool," I said, making eye contact.

"Good cause, she's here all the time. She's like my little sister," he expalined. I nodded in understanding. "I think I'll grow to be very close to her," I said. "Good," he replied.

"So, I guess I'm your ride tomorrow," Ross said, smirking. I laughed and answered back. "Well. I could walk, but your mom didn't like that idea," I expalined. Then Ross stood up and pulled the covers back and hopped in. He turned on the TV and went onto Disney Channel.

We watched I Didn't Do It for awhile and then we started talking. "So when you were little you used to take baths in kool aid?" I asked laughing my head off. "I wanted to be 'kool'," Ross explained.

We talked until 1 am and then Ross decided to go back to his room.

"Well, goodnight Laur," he said. 'Laur'. I like that. "Night Rossome Sauce," I said, laughing at the nickname. Ross stood there and watched me laugh with a slight smirk on my face.

"Can I call you that?" I said in between laughs. Ross smiled slightly.

"Yes, only cause it's you," he said and with that we left the room.

What will tomorrow bring...
