Chapter 4: A Step Closer To Saving

(Teresa's POV)

After watching Minho I had went to where we were keeping a little girl with the virus, for the past six months I've been giving her the serum. And she has been healing, but the virus is still in her. 

When I walk up to the doors I give my thumbprint, walk into the sprayer room, and then finally walk into the main room where she is. I pull up a chair and sit next to her, "hey Teresa" She says turning her head to me, "hey." I say back.

"How are you feeling?" I ask her, "a little better." She says back, I then nod to one of the doctors in the room ordering them to get the serum. When I get handed the serum I hear her say, "is that going to make me better?" I turn to her with the most confidence I have. "I hope." I take a cloth and wipe the spot where I'll be injecting the serum, but before I ask, "why don't you tell me that story of yours again." 

As she begins to tell I inject the serum, she moves in pain and I try to hurry. I really don't want to hurt her. Once the beep comes I take the needle out of her, "all done!" I say handing a doctor the serum.

Everyone in the room watches her, the veins on her cheeks disappear, her eyes go back to normal, and her breathing goes back to normal. I feel something I haven't felt in a while, happiness. It reminds of the times when I was in the glade. 

Everyone was so happy, it made me happy. And even though I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there, I was still happy with everyone I had. Chuck, Alby, Winston, Frypan, Newt, Y/N, Minho, and Thomas. 

And just like that, in the mention of his name, a warm feeling comes over me, as if he's here right now. "Teresa?!" I hear the girl say, I look to her. Her face lit up and a smile on her face, "am I cured? I feel a lot better!" She says sitting up, I smile at what she said. "Yeah, I think so." I say to her making her even more happy, she gives me a hug, something I haven't gotten in a while.

(Thomas' POV)

"Do you think she's in there?" I hear Newt ask from behind me, I look over to him not answering. Brenda, Fry, and Jorge were already in the car waiting. "I guess we'll find out" I say looking back to the city.

A few seconds past Newt went back to the car, so I joined him. On our ride down, my mind wanders back to when I first saw Teresa. 

I opened the gates to the box, and jumped in. I was shocked at what I saw, two girls. One with black hair who seems almost dead, and another with Y/H/C backed up into a corner terrified. Since Newt was the nicest one in the glade I ordered him to get down here, I felt him jump down into the box but I kept staring at the girl. Her black hair, pale skin, everything about her I just loved. 

"I'll take this one to the med-jack hut, you can take care of that one." I said to Newt, he nodded and looked back to the other girl. I picked up the girl with black hair and put her out of the box, a bunch of guys gathered around trying to get a look. But I then jumped out and picked her up like she was a bride and carried her to the med-jack hut.

Once there I set her down on a bed and just stared at her, I had dreams about her, but I never knew who she was, or who that other girl was. Jeff and Clint came in and checked her, "she seems good Thomas." Jeff said to me, I nodded and continued to stare. I suddenly got a feeling of warmth rush over me, I felt safe with her, but who is she?

"Looks like we have to walk from here!" I hear Jorge say, I look up and see a crowd of people, some with signs, some on top of cars, but they were all yelling and heading towards the walls of the last city. I got out of the car with Newt following behind me, I now have a clear view of what we're about to get ourselves into. "Okay lets go." I say walking forward, I look back to make sure everyone was following me.

Half-way through the crowd I begin to hear louder shouts coming from behind us, I look back and see two vans with people on top of them. As the first van drives by one of the men on top of it doesn't stop staring at me, what's his deal?

Once the vans pass the crowd gathers together again, leaving it impossible to get through. But the men on the vans still linger in my mind, and I begin to worry for the others. "Alright stay close!" I shout to them over the crowd.

When we finally get to the front I can see how big the walls really are, I look to the top to see some type of machines with people guarding them. I begin to hear noises from above me and see two helicopters and a berg, that's not a good sign. 

"Tommy we have to go look!" I hear Newt say putting his hand on my shoulder turning me, I look to see a man from one of the vans following us, I look to my left and see another one gaining in. Until, big sirens come from behind me. I turn and see the machines raise, everyone has gone quiet expecting something to happen. And something did.

A missile shoots from one of the machines hitting a few yards behind us. "EVERYBODY RUN!" Jorge yells, but people were already running. I turn on my heels and run, Fry and Newt had gotten in front of me leading us to where ever. We go into a small space leading into a big area, I thought we were safe until I see the vans from earlier. A man grabs me and throws me into a van, the only thing I can think about are the others. I don't care what's happening with me I need to know if the others are safe. 

But then Brenda gets thrown into the van with me, and the doors close behind us. Leaving me and her with three other guys just staring at us, and I recognize a familiar mask.

We eventually arrive at where ever these guys lived, the doors opened behind us revealing what seems to be an abandoned mall. I hop out and get a good view of the place, it looked like we were on the second level of this mall. 

But I begin to hear noises from the other van, and soon enough Jorge jumps out tackling a man to the ground. "WHERE IS SHE?!" He screams over and over again, Brenda quickly runs to his side and tries to get him to look at her. "I'm here, I'm here!" She yells to him causing him to look her away. And at the sight of her, Jorge gets off the man and gives Brenda a hug.

"Everybody calm down we're all on the same side here!" I hear a familiar voice yell, I walk up keeping a distance. "What do you mean we're all on the same side here? Who are you?" I say to the masked man, he looks down and takes off his mask, then back to us. Gally. 

"Hey greenie." He says staring right at me, and then the whole scene plays through my head again. Chuck dying right in front of me. I can feel rage fill me and I charge at Gally punching him, making him fall to the ground. I raise my fist but Newt comes rushing towards us and grabs by wrist. "Hey hey, calm down alright?" He says, "he killed Chuck." I say to him but still staring at Gally.

"Yeah I know, I was there too." Newt says, "but he was out of his mind. Just calm down okay?" I take deep breaths and get off of Gally, backing up in front of Brenda. "I had that coming" Gally says rubbing his left cheek, "anyone else want a go? Fry? Newt?" He says looking at our small crowd.

"H---How is this possible? We watched you die!" Newt says, Gally shakes his head. "No, you left me to die! What are you guys doing here anyway?" He says back to Newt.

But no one says anything, too afraid to share the truth. "It's Minho, and Y/N." Newt says, Gally seems to ponder on the thought, he then looks back up to us. "What happened to them?" He asks curiously, I finally speak up and say. "WICKED has them." 

Gally turns to me, "I can get you guys in."
