Farren woke up extra late the off white vintage curtains pulled shut and the fuzzy Christmas blanket over her face. Elliot and Thomas decided to pull and all nighter and dragged Farren into it. She has never seen two siblings get along so well. Elliot barged into the living room.
"Good morning sunshine!" He yelled.
"Go away it's too early," Farren whined pulling the pillow from underneath her head and onto her face.
"Farren 1:00 pm isn't early," Elliot huffed.
"When you get dragged into an all nighter yes, 1:00 pm is early. Now go away and let me sleep," Farren stated.
"I'm sorry Farren," Elliot said in a sad voice.
"Wha—Eek!" Farren squealed as Elliot tore the blanket from Farren's grasp.
"Now you have to get up," Elliot grinned.
"Now I'm gonna kill you," Farren huffed her sweater sleeve grazing up her arm, "That should be illegal! My precious blanket was torn from my living grasp. He shall never trust me again!" Farren fell off the couch dramatically, putting her left arm in the air before letting it fall to the wooden floor, sticking her tongue out and letting her eyes close slowly.
"Yeah, yeah. Breakfast is done my Mom made french toast," Elliot said walking into the kitchen.
Farren heard whispering, as her ears and eyes adjusted to the world, she heard Thomas came into the living room screaming.
Thomas jumped onto Farren, "Farren! Guess what! My friend called me and said she wanted to come over! I don't know what to do! Help me!"
"Tell her yes?" Farren said sitting up confused, plotting the boy next to her on the floor and rubbing her stomach with a groan.
"How! I don't know how to say yes," Thomas moaned throwing a pillow at Farren.
"Ooo I know what's going on," A teasing grin forming onto Farren's face.
"What?" Thomas asked, his small eyebrows quivering, and his eyes widening.
"Thomas likes somebody. I think he has a crush," Farren teased poking Thomas's pink cheeks, before calling the phrase around the house.
"Nuh-uh!" Thomas whined his ears turning red, and his cheeks growing more pink as he hid under the fuzzy blanket.
"Yuh-uh!" Farren giggled, pointing and laughing.
"She just has curly blonde hair! And wears pink frilly dresses with lots of polka dots and ruffles, she isn't special," Thomas pouted.
"Yeah you definitely have a crush," Farren giggled throwing the small pillow back at Thomas softly.
"So what! I like somebody more than a friend, Mommy likes Daddy more than a friend." Thomas pointed out.
Farren laughed, "Whatever you say bud."
Thomas shook his head, "So do I say yes or?"
"Well now you have to say yes I just have to meet this pink frilly dress wearing girl with lots of polka dots and ruffles." Farren giggled again and Thomas threw the pillow at Farren again this time Farren catching it.
"Now lets go eat some french toast." Farren nodded getting up and marching towards the kitchen.
A green glass bowl held the French toast, piled with maple syrup and sprinkled with white powdered sugar. Farren was drooling at the sight, letting the heavy scent fill her red nose, she moaned as she took a bite, feeling the warm mush in her mouth.
Elliot wasn't as polite, grabbing two pieces and chomping them down almost immediately, letting out small grunts as he chewed loudly. Thomas grabbed a plate from the counter, tearing off a striped napkin to put underneath, he put three pieces of toast with extra syrup on the small plate, as well as a side of eggs. Everything on the plate was doused with syrup, making it way too sweet, just the way the small freckled boy liked.
"Slow down Elliot," Marilyn scolded handing him a napkin.
"Okay okay," Elliot huffed, rolling his eyes as he wiped the goo from the corners of his mouth with the damp napkin.
Farren sat at the table, watching as Thomas sat down across from her before skipping to get a glass of hot chocolate.
Although Farren loved hot cocoa dearly, she always drank plain milk or water with her loss bread, something she did as a mere young girl.
Farren got lost in a daydream. Her chin resting on her hand. She was staring at her fork which lay on a piece of french toast.
"Hello?" Thomas waved his small hand in front of Farren's face.
She practically had jumped out of her skin, "Oh my gosh! I was just in my own world."
"Yeah I kinda figured, Ya know? Staring at your fork as if it was the most interesting thing in the world," He switched to a whisper, "Wouldn't surprise me if you started brushing your hair with it."
"Nice Disney reference," Farren laughed.
"Yeah. I keep up with my Disney movies." Thomas stood up straighter with the most serious look on his face.
"I can tell," she gave him a small fist bump watching as the rest of the family gathered at the table, a warm spritz of vanilla mixing the air.
Just as Farren was about to grace her mouth with the warm bread, a loud ring from Thomas's iPad interrupted, causing her to jump in her seat.
The bread dropped onto her lap, and she grimaced, looking at the sloppily laid syrup over her cozy clothes.
Oh how lovely Hawaii sounded over this moment.
"Farren," Thomas whisper yelled at her pointing to his iPad, since then had been silenced.
