Thomas looked out the window anxiously, waiting for the small, pink dress wearing, girl to arrive. Farren shook her head at the thought of the little boy having a crush, although she was in the same state of romantics, her crush was more complicated.
Elliot rushed down the stairs, he was dressed rather nicely, and his hair was combed for the first time since the phone call. Farren gave him many once-overs, before throwing him a smirk.
"Where might you be going," she got up from the couch walking over to him and poking his weirdly shaped jacket.
He rolled his eyes moving her hand, "A restaurant down the street, with friends, you could tag along if you'd like."
"What makes you think I would want to ta-"
"They have fried chicken," he cut her off with a teasing smile, as he stuffed the house key in his pocket.
"Fair enough, give me twenty minutes?"
He looked at the girl, observing the way she smiled, and her eyes sparkled, the slight crinkle at the pinch of her nose. Elliot shook his head, sighing at the thought of her.
"You have fifteen or you can walk alone," he called jokingly, he would never intentionally leave without her.
She ran up the stairs, and the closing of the door was audible, as she flailed around her room for clothes.
Elliot stared down at his phone smiling as he received a phone call, which he answered quickly.
"Hello?"
A small female voice, specifically a sad one rang through the other end, "Elliot?"
He instantly recognized the voice, feeling a small break of spirit, "Yeah, Addy are you okay?"
Farren was still upstairs, so he took a seat on the couch, waiting for her to answer.
"I don't know what to do, I am lying to Cameron and you're the only person I can come to."
"Addy, what do you mean, what's happening ?" The urgency in Elliot's voice apparent.
The sobs were heard through the phone, Elliot sunk further in the couch in worry.
"I am getting letters, in my locker," a sob paused the talking, " and I haven't been eating... and no one else but you knows... Please don't tell Cameron!"
Elliot fell into a state of panic when she spoke, "What do you mean you haven't been eating Adeline !"
Farren walked down the stairs, pausing when she noticed he was on the phone.
"I can't , nothing looks appetizing, it all looks sickening."
"Adeline, you can't do this, not to me, not to Cameron," Elliot pressed, looking over at Farren.
More sobs and talks came after this before the call came to a conclusion.
"Addy, I really wanna be here for you, but I have to go meet friends, I won't tell Cameron.. But you should. Maybe call Char over and talk with her, have a girls night, or talk to your mom, I'll call you later!"
Elliot waited for her to reciprocate the goodbye, hanging up the phone, and sighing before throwing his head into his hands.
"Elliot?"
He looked up to Farren, who had a nice blue jean jacket, and a pink shirt under as well as jeans that hugged her nicely.
"Sorry, my friend called, she's not doing well..." Elliot trailed off, getting up anyways.
The two inched out of the door, quietly, passing Thomas who was now squealing at the girl walking into the house.
The snow was thick, as well as the air, the first few minutes the only sound the crunching of the frosted mush.
"Are you okay?"
Farren was the first to break the silence, on the righthand side of Elliot she offered a hand on his shoulder. He broke from his passive trance, looking over at her, and offering a small smile.
"Not really," his voice was small as he looked away.
Farren stopped, pulling his arm to stop his movement as well.
"What are you doing, we will catch frostbite," he chuckled as he looked over at her, stopping short when he saw how serious she was.
"Is the girl okay," Farren didn't move her hand tightly gripping his arm as she spoke, "The one on the phone I mean."
Elliot smiled at this, she was caring, the girl right in front of him cared about him and a girl she didn't know.
"Adeline Campbell," Elliot paused, shaking his head, "She has been my friend since forever, I had to move away and now I am always here for her. She has another best friend, one she likes but hasn't admitted it yet-" To the rambling Farren stopped him to ask.
"Cameron?"
He looked at her, and the two started walking again as they talked.
"Yes Cameron, he is dopey. Adeline is struggling a bit with her image, and her family."
'Well that is a bit relatable,' Farren thought to herself, before tuning in to the rest.
"She hasn't been eating, and she's worried what Cameron will think, so she just called to ask for my say, or just to talk," Elliot paused, trying to think of a way to lighten up the conversation, " Scared that I may be falling for someone else?"
She giggled as he nudged her shoulder.
"I think it would be impossible for you to fall for anyone but me," Farren through the words back at him, as they approached the small restaurant, the heating system calling to them.
