Amanda had just disclosed the death of Don Rico Valderrama. This once old man turned beggar had died due to some sickness left uncured. His death caused the mourning of Delfin and the Campanilla family.
The following day, Amanda accompanied the family and Delfin to the place where Don Rico was buried. The graveyard was a lonely field surrounded with grass, where the memorial was very prominent.
The atmosphere was joining the visitors in their mourning. As it grew dark, everyone sadly recalled the moments when Don Rico was alive. However, Delfin wept more, for he didn't even have the chance to meet his grandfather - his parents refused to give him an chance.
With this, Delfin promised to himself, "I will try my best to find my sister Constantina. I will try to keep alive the memory of my grandfather, even if he hated my father. By finding my sister, I shall preserve their memories."
As Delfin, Amanda, and the Campanillas were going sentimental, heavy rain poured at the graveside. The rain went with them in their melancholy.
The rain lasted for almost an hour, After the rain, the visitors to the grave were all soaking wet. But despite this, Delfin was determined to find his sister.
And so, when Amanda and the Campanillas decided to go home, he refused to go with them. He continued the journey, hoping to find his sister. He was more than eager to find Constantina and bring her home.
