6. What Now?
I walk down the hallway of school while holding Alex’s hand. We head to the cafeteria to meet the other three and head home together. To say I felt a bit… weird, was an understanding. Me and Alex just kissed and I’m not sure if he likes me or not. I mean, we were both smiling uncontrollably so that should mean that he does like me, right? But I don’t wanna assume so I just wanna know if he really does like me.
“Hey, Alex?” I ask.
He turns to me smiling boyishly and I giggle. “Yeah?” He pulls me closer to him and wraps his arm around my waist. “What is it?” He responded.
“Are you sure you like me?” I turned to him with a serious face.
He smiled at me genuinely. “Yes. I’m very sure.”
“But why?” I ask.
“Well, first off, you’re beautiful. That made me attracted to you the first time, but then I saw you were also a kindhearted person despite how horrible the world is to you. Then, you were also nice to me, you trusted me. And it made me feel like I was the luckiest guy on earth when you started sending me smiles and whenever I made you laugh.” He scratched his head.
I smile at him. “I’m glad I trusted you.” I said, and we walk to the cafeteria in silence.
Once we stepped inside, we immediately see my brother and his friends sitting on a table. It was easy to spot them since there were only few people here. I mean, who wants to stay in school any longer? So, we headed to the table.
“Hey, hey, hey! Don’t you get all touchy-touchy with my little sister there!” Zach exclaimed, dragging me away from Alex.
“And where were you when guys were trying to get into my pants?” I asked sarcastically.
“Ouch, sis. That struck something in me.” Zach said, pouting.
“Sorry,” I said as I hug him.
“Chill Zach. It’s fine. Me and Solitaria are fine.” Alex said.
“Oh really?” Zach said. “Does Mama and Papa approve of Him? Oh wait! He hasn’t even met them yet!” He exclaimed.
“I’m not sure if we should tell them yet. I mean, I’m not even sure what we are yet.” I said, shyly looking at Alex.
“Wait, wait, wait…” Zach said with wide eyes. “You guys are actually serious? When did it happen? Holy shit how far did you to go?”
My eyes widened. “We did nothing that would have me kicked out of the house! Okay?!” I exclaimed.
“Yeah, we only kissed.” Alex shrugged as if it were nothing. How dare he.
I glared at him. He winked at me.
My eyes widen. Looks like I’m seeing cocky Alex now. I kinda like it.
And I guess that’s the cue to blush.
But it looks like Zach wasn’t really liking it. “We’re going home Solitaria, come on.” He declared, grabbing my wrist.
“But-!” I tried to protest but he cut me off.
“I’m telling Papa you have a boyfriend.”
I gasp. “You wouldn’t dare!”
Suddenly, I was off the floor, a date Zach carried me princess style.
“Hey!” I protest. Then I turn to the other three. “Aren’t you guys going to do anything?!”
“Nah, it’s fun seeing the big brother side of Zach. He’s always so uptight.” Ron chuckled.
“Garret?” I asked.
He shook his head, shrugging.
I turned to Alex with hopeful eyes. He shook his head.
“I’ve learned not to mess with Zach. Especially if it concerns a certain little sister.” He said. “But don’t worry. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He winked at me.
I blush. Gosh, he’s just too cute.
“Come on now, it’s just gonna be a short walk.” Zach said.
I could practically hear his smugness in his voice.
He turned. “Bye guys!” He said.
“Bye!”
“See ya!”
“See you!”
They all waved goodbye and I just pouted, waving a bit at them.
Zach was right. It was a short walk home.
“Papaaaaaa!!!!!” Zach yells, running to their bedroom.
My eyes widen and I immediately run after him and let out a war cry.
“YAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I cry out.
I jump and tackle him to the ground just as he opened their bedroom door and was about to speak.
“Hesu’ christo!” I heard Mama run towards us. I mean, who wouldn’t when your grandson was just talked to the ground by his younger sister?
“Solitaria has a boyfriend!” Zach wheezed out.
Mama gasped.
I feared the worst.
“Finally! She’s got a boyfriend! Now I know I’m gonna get great grandchildren!” She squealed.
My eye twitched. “What?”
Zach abruptly stood up, causing me to fall backwards onto the floor.
“What.” He disbelievingly asked.
“Honey! Get your butt over here!” Mama yelled.
Zach and I snickered.
“What is it?!”
“Solitaria finally found a boyfriend!”
“Really? Thank the heavens!” I could hear him praise. “Our granddaughter isn’t going to grow old by herself!”
“I heard Sols finally got a boyfriend!” I heard uncle Max yell.
I slapped my hand onto my forehead.
I could hear Zach doing the same.
I turned to him. “I guess your plan didn’t really go as you planned?” I smirked. “No pun intended.”
He shook his head. Smirking.
“Do you think he could come over for dinner tomorrow?!” Aunt Delilah yelled.
My face went pale.
Who knows what my family will do to him.
