Male 2: Want me to get someone to pick up the twins from school?

Female 1: I can do it myself.

Male 2: Sure? I have no problem sending someone.

Female 2: But I do. I am completely capable of getting my own little sisters from school.

Male 2: Okay, was just asking.

*Female 1 walks out the door without a word*

Male 2: Have a good day!

~AT SCHOOL~

Male 1: So how is it back at home?

Female 1: Do I really have to answer that?

Male 1: Give him a shot. He was forced to stay away from you by your aunt. All he wants is for his daughter to love him as much as he loves you.

Female 1: How do you know that?

Male 1: That he loves you?

Female 1: No, that was forced to stay away from me.

Male 1: He told me the first time we met.

Female 1: He never told me.

Male 1: Oh, sorry.

Female 1: No, it's alright. Thank you for telling me.

~BACK AT THE HOUSE~

Male 2: Hey, girls, how was school?

Female 2: It was good.

Female 3: Yeah, same.

Female 1: How about you guys go get started on your homework.

*Female 2&3 run upstairs to their rooms*

Female 1: Why didn't you tell me?

Male 2: What are you talking about?

Female 1: Which aunt?

Male 2: Kayla...

Female 1: Which one?

Male 2: Delia.

Female 1: How come you told Nolan and not me?

Male 2: Because I wanted him to understand a father's sacrifice.

Female 1: But I'm your daughter! I have the right to know everything!

Male 2: I just didn't want you to lose your aunt over something like this.

Female 1: Yeah, well, she took my own father away from me for 17 years. That's not what family does.

Male 2: Kayla, don't try to do something stupid. All that matters is that we're together now.

Female 1: No promises.

Male 2: Kayla, that is your family.

Female 1: How could you let her do that to you?

Male 2: It's complicated.

Female 1: Did she threaten you? Bribe you? Make a deal with you?

Male 2: ...

Female 1: You two made a deal, didn't you?

Male 2: I didn't want to cause conflict in your family.

Female 1: There's always conflict in this family, ever since granny died.

Male 2: Granny was an amazing woman and human being.

Female 1: What was the deal?

Male 2: ... No one get hurt and you're safe. I tried sending money, but she would always send it back. Being rich, I knew of your whereabouts. Your mother didn't want anything to do with me. Your grandma allowed me to get to know you and near you, just not fully. I was able to watch you from afar. Every time you were in a difficult situation I wanted so badly to step forward and help. Being the strong and independent woman you are, you got through it and it made me proud of you. You surely are my child, because your mother would've just given up because it's too difficult for her. I am so proud of who you have come to be in the 17 years of your life.

Female 1: She was willing to hurt me?

Male 2: She was willing to make your life a living disgrace.

Female 1: But I'm her blood.

Male 2: She didn't care.

Female 1: Who else knew of this "arrangement"?

Male 2: Granny.

Female 1: *surprised and heartbroken* What?

Male 2: But she didn't like it. She believed that a father willing to be in his daughters life should not be stopped and that family should not do that to each other.

Female 1: So she knew of my true identity.

Male 2: That's why she favored you the most. You needed and deserved as much love as you could get. She tried stopping Delia and me from making the deal, but it was for your safekeeping and guarantees... I saw the way you reacted at her funeral.

Female 1: *surprised* You were there?

Male 2: From a distance. I knew of the strong bond you two had. She always kept in contact with me. She was the one key I had to you.

Female 1: I miss her dearly. *touches the necklace on her neck*

Male 2: I'm glad she gave that necklace. I know it meant a lot to her.

Female 1: It means a lot to me.

Male 2: I'm sorry. For all that I've done and haven't done.

Female 1: Thank you for telling me all of this. I'm sorry, too, for being rude to you.

Male 2: I understand. But right now is all that matters.

*both hug each other tightly, full of love*
