☁️☀️☁️soonyoung isn't sure about what to do with the madness of what this fixation has turned him into. when no matter what happens, in the end, all the attention will fall on seungcheol- the only boy jihoon ever dreams of.
the sun never cared when icarus fell to the ocean. it only kissed his wings and watched him drown. is jihoon all the same?
soonyoung is so close to giving up. but every time his friend is there, he would feel the stars ripple at the surface of his skin, feel it take over to drive him completely. to construct a missile, a rocket through space, with a fuel of undying desires enough to kick in the engine to somehow try to make jihoon fall for him too, to erase all the laws of life as they know it.
soonyoung reaches out for his phone to type a short message, then hits send.
jihoon's phone pings, and seungcheol steals a quick glance from the screen. it was a message, and as soon as he caught soonyoung's name, he snickers. jihoon had just excused himself for a bit to go to the restroom and so seungcheol thought it would be okay to go through the boy's phone without him knowing.
"i love you" is all that the text says. honestly, seungcheol doesn't even give a fuck about jihoon, but he acknowledges the boy's admiration for him. moreover, this music project they're working on is a huge deal for it. it could give him a better boost in popularity considering that jihoon is such a skilled artist and his works will always have all the attention it deserves. although he doesn't care about anyone else's life or anything, there's just something about soonyoung that makes him want to mess things up.
seungcheol isn't homophobic at all. in fact, he's quite open about the topic of gender and sexuality, but soonyoung's affection for jihoon throws him off for some reason. who knows? maybe it's because jihoon could actually fall for his best friend, and that means soonyoung would take away the spotlight and win the heart of someone who used to admire seungcheol. and he doesn't want that. he got too used to having all this attention from anyone, that he would labor to create an image that people will find appealing, instead of being genuine.
maybe he envies soonyoung for being the complete opposite.
the boy quickly deletes the message and places the phone back to its spot. a few seconds more and jihoon steps out of the washroom. he approaches seungcheol with a sweet smile on his face and then they continue to plan their project.
"the school festival is in a few days. are you coming early?" seungcheol asks. jihoon stops munching on his food for a quick second, then nods as an answer.
"who are you going with?"
jihoon gulps, "soonyoung."
"ah," the older simply replies, "i was going to ask you out, but nevermind then."
jihoon purses his lips. did seungcheol just say he was going to ask me out? he muses. it would be really nice to spend the whole festival day with the boy he likes, but he already made plans with with friend. moreover, soonyoung is really looking forward to it. and he doesn't want to disappoint.
"it's okay, we see each other almost everyday after all," jihoon says "i don't get to be with soonie a lot."
"soonie?" seungcheol snickers "that's such a cute pet name. when are you guys gonna date?"
"never," jihoon answers, "soonyoung and i have been friends for years. and i think it'll stay that way."
"good to know," seungcheol mumbles
"what was that?"
"nothing. we should focus on our work, you know?"
"ah, yes," jihoon arranges the papers scattered around their working space, and then they continue to discuss their project.
