"What is that guy thinking?!" Korra asked the other team.
"Keith!" Shiro yelled, abandoning the chase and swinging down to catch his brother. He landed back on the bending platform.
"Keith!" Lance and hunk shouted at the same time running to their friend.
Korra ran over to the passed out fire bender.
"Did anyone see what hit him?" She asked the people around them and looked up at Shiro. "I can see if I can heal him, but he told us you're his brother, is it okay?"
"We didn't see it," Lance said, looking concerned.
"If you can help him please do." Shiro said trying to hide how desperate he was.
"Hey, Shiro it's going to be okay," hunk said patting the officer's shoulder.
"I don't think I've seen someone act so recklessly." Korra commented as she turned Keith over so she could see the back of his head. Aside from the water in his hair, there was a small amount of broken up rock. "Someone...hit him with a rock.." She murmured. "He should be fine, but I don't know who would have done that."
Beifong came back down, "they got away." She growled, she looked at shiro who stood up at attention when he saw her. "At ease," Beifong said, "stay here Shiro. I'll go see what happened to the rest of the task force. They should have been here by now." She ran off. Shiro bent back down next to Keith and held his hand; so his little brother would know he was there with him. Keith groaned and lightly squeezed Shiro's hand, letting him know he was okay. He struggled to open his eyes from the throbbing pain in the back of his head. "What happened?" He asked in a scratchy voice.
"Someone hit you in the back of the head with a rock." Lance said relieved that keith was awake.
"Take it easy." Shiro said calmly, "You're going to okay. The equalists are gone now." The radio on Shiro's belt beeped, he groaned and picked it up. "Yes Tralok? What is it?"
A garbled reply.
"I'm a little bushy right now can it wait?" Shiro asked.
Another reply angrier this time.
"Alright, Alright. I'm on my way." Shiro rolled his eyes, "Sorry Keith I have to go explain why I ran off. Lance hunk keep an eye on him please."
"You got it," Lance said, hunk gave him a thumbs up.
Keith sat up, keeping his eyes closed, trying to keep the pain down. "Shiro?" He asked before his brother left. "Make sure you come home tonight."
Korra went to the side of the arena and looked down. "Hey Mako, Bolin, get up here!" She called to her teammates.
Shiro nodded. "I will. Don't worry." He told Keith before running off to make his report.
"I hope the kid doesn't get into to much trouble with Tarlok." Beifong said shaking her head, "he's got a good head on his shoulders."
"Shiro can handle Tarlok." Lance said.
"Yeah, he's cool under presser like that." Hunk said. They both bent down so they could be closer to Keith.
"How are you feeling buddy?" Lance asked.
"Combine a migraine with being incredibly sore from training so much today." Keith muttered. "Opening my eyes makes my headache worse." He told them.
Korra looked at Hunk and Lance. "Do you guys have an apartment nearby? He needs to rest for at least a few hours."
"Well there's his and Shiro's place. It's just a few blocks from here." Lance said. "We were gonna crash there after the match anyway." He added glumly.
"Yeah we can get him there no problem." Hunk said. "Keith you mind me and Lance walking you home between us?"
Keith nodded. "I think I can walk home on my own though." He said and got to his feet, eyes still closed. "I'll need help getting outside though. Wait- the equilists are gone, can we still finish our match?" He asked everyone.
"not in your condition." Beifong said, "the three of you are going home, and you're going to stay out of police business and leave fighting these terrorists to us. It's not your job." She said sternly, leaving no room for argument.
"Good call." Lance said, "let's go home, I'll bet you anything they'll reschedule this. We'll have our shot
boys."
"You're right." Hunk agreed, "let's just go wined down. We'll help you outside Keith." He added. Keith mumbled something that was probably containing choice words as he barely opened his eyes so he could follow his teammates. He still didn't think it was fair that they didn't get to continue with the tournament because of him.
"Don't worry Keith. We'll get a second chance." Lance said trying to keep up the team's spirits. "No one got hurt too badly they're not going to chancel the tournament after this little mishap.
"I hope not, this is the coolest we've ever gotten." Hunk said, "victory is so close I can taste it." He said as they walked outside. They weren't far from we're Shiro and Tarlok we're talking.
