"Same here!" Keith smiled and ate the pasta. He checked the time and almost choked on his food. "Guys, we have fifteen minutes to be there and we wanted to have a warm up when we got there!" He told them and started wolfing the food down.
Lance and hunk both exchanged panicked looks. They both started eating like there was no tomorrow; they were finished in two minutes.
"Alright let's go!" Lance shouted jumping to his feet.
Keith put his bowl on the counter and grabbed the necklace he always wore to tournaments like this one. It was a regular necklace chain with a little sword that said focus on one side and patience on the other with a dragon on the handle of the blade. "Come on, I can do the dishes when we get back!"
"Right." Hunk said as they all raced to the door.
"Lion Turtles move out!" Lance cheered, he was so loud he merely got the whole block to start cheering them on and wish them luck.
Keith went out last, making sure to lock the door on the way out. He quickly turned and followed his team in running down the street.
Lance led the way, running fast hunk close behind. Lance was still cheering trying to get everyone on the street involved in their little three man march to potential glory.
Keith ran and eventually passed Lance, shooting fire in the air as he ran for a more dramatic effect. They were close with maybe ten minutes to spare.
They burst through the doors  Lance and hunk both gasping for breath.
"We made it... Gah..." Lance panted hard, hunk clutched a stitch in his side.
Keith wasn't as worn out as the others, but was still panting. "Come...on guys, we need to get changed."
"Right! Woohoo!" Lance straightened up and pumped his fist in the air again. They all ran to the changing rooms. The other teams were all there, and Lance stopped momentarily to stick his tongue out at the wolf bats.
"Lance!" Keith said sternly, slapping the back of Lance's head. "Come on." He told the water bender and went to the changing room.
Hunk and Lance both changed into their team uniforms quickly.
"Man it kinda sucks that Shiro can't be here." Hunk muttered, "he's been to all our matches."
"Yeah," Lance agreed as he straightened out the cuffs of his sleeves. "He was kind of like a good luck charm. I hope he's aloud to listen to the radio tonight. He'll be with us in spirit!" He cheered that last part and threw both fists in the air for extra effect.
"Well, the equilist people are becoming more of an issue." Keith said as he got changed. He left his helmet off, and held it at his side. The green and black uniforms made them look more fierce than they actually were.
"Yeah but they'll be dealt with. Now that there's a task force for that very reason." Lance waved off Keith's comment, "Besides if you ask me they're all talk. I mean there can't really be someone that can take away a person's bending."
"But Lance what about the triads?" Hunk asked, "I mean no ones seen Lightning Bolt Zolt since he was taken by them."
"Yeah, that was pretty scary. That's another reason why I don't want Shiro on the task force." Keith muttered and got ready for the match.
"Hey," the fire bender for the fire ferrets waved to them, "you guys are the Lion Turtles right?"
"Um yes that's us." Lance said, the wolf bats all burst out laughing.
Hunk face palmed.
Keith stepped forward and nodded. "Yeah, that's us. I'm the team's fire bender, Keith." He told him. The biggest thing going through his mind was: 'crap, he's hot.'
"I'm Mako," the fire bender held out a hand for Keith to shake. "This is my brother Bolin, and our teammate Korra."
"Yeah we know who she is," Lance said. 'Must resist the urge to flirt, focus on match.' He told himself.
"Good luck out there guys," Bolin said.
"You too," hunk said smiling.
"Did you say you know someone on the equalist task force?" Mako asked.
"Oh, yeah I do. My brother, Shiro is one of the police officers on it." Keith told them. He shot a quick warning look to Lance, knowing he would try to flirt with Korra.
"Alright mullet I'm backing away now." Lance said holding up his hands defensively as he did so.
"Oh I heard about him." Bolin said, "they gave him a medal a year ago for valor."
Keith smiled and nodded. "Yep!" He looked back at Mako. "Anyways, why are you guys here? Aren't we fighting you soon?" He asked.
Korra nodded and walked so she wasn't behind her team. "Yeah, you guys will still loose to us, but we figured we would talk to you guys for a bit."
"Aw that's so nice... wait..." hunk thought he had heard an insult but couldn't place where.
"How is your brother? I heard on the radio that he was hurt really bad but they didn't go into detail." Mako said.
"Um touchy subject." Lance muttered under his breath.
"He's recovered now. He has a metal arm that he uses just like a normal one." Keith told them plainly. He really didn't like talking about his brother's...accident.
"Oh... sorry I asked..." Mako said, "for what it's worth your brother is a hero."
Hunk put a hand on Keith's shoulder, "Come on man. Let's refocus."
"Mako there you are!" A very pretty girl with black hair came into the changing room and kissed Mako on the cheek. "Just here to wish you luck."
Keith smiled. "No, It's fine. I know you didn't mean anything by it." He felt a small pit in the bottom of his stomach. So its always the hot ones that are taken!
Korra mumbled something incoherent and turned away when the girl came along.
"Alright look alive team." Lance rallied, "we've got our work cut out for us tonight."
"Good luck guys." Mako said leaving the room with his team.
"Yeah we sure do." Hunk agreed.
Once Mako was out of earshot, Keith groaned and sank against the wall. "Why does he have to be hot and taken?" He complained.
"Come on Keith, Focus." Lance said face palming. "Work with me here buddy."
"Well at least we know how they landed their sponsorship." Hunk said. "That was Asami Sato. Her dad owns future industries."
"How do you know that?" Lance asked.
"What? I have a life outside of the gym." Hunk said indignantly.
"Yep, I know of her too. I'm shocked you don't, Lance. Or was it because she is clearly with Mako?" Keith asked and got back to his feet. "I'm still not going to hold back just because he's so..."
"We get it he's hot!" Lance slapped his forehead. "Focus Keith. We need to win this thing tonight. My family is listening down south and hunk's are in Ba Sing Sai. We need to do this."
"Yeah. Let's not forget shiro promised to listen too," hunk added.
"Not my fault you guys moved away from your parents." Keith shrugged and let fire dance on his fingertips. "I'm ready to go now." He told them.
"Good heads out of the clouds boys." Lance said smirking, "let's win this thing."
He led the team to the platform below the arena and waited for it to carry them up. Lance was glad they were starting separate from the fire ferrets. The last thing they needed was Keith getting all starry eyed at the fire bender again.
Keith took a deep breath, pushing all of his love out of his head. He needed to win this. For Shiro. For his friends. He walked on the platform and waited for them to be lifted up.
The platform began to rise. The cheers and shouts of the crowd roared in lance's ears and when they came to a stop he struck several poses.
Hunk waved nervously like he always did, the hot spot light beaming down on all of them. "Introducing the Republic City police department Lion Turtles!" The announcer cheered is his dramatic stage voice. As per usual the crowd laughed, causing Lance and his team to all groan.
Keith looked around the crowd, forgetting for a second that Shiro wasn't in his normal spot. He sighed and focused on the game, getting his composure back.
"And their opponents. The Future industries Fire Ferrets!" The announcer continued. And the platform on the other side of the ring rose revealing the other team. The crowd cheered even louder, cameras flashing all over in the stands. Lance took a deep breath, he had to focus; there was nothing but this moment for him and his team.
Keith expected them to be more popular than his team. They had Future Industries on their side! Sure, he was grateful for having the Police force, but still wished they had as much recognition. He glanced at his team, giving them reassuring looks. "Just like we practiced boys."
"Yeah, everyone to their places." Lance said nodding at Keith. "Let's mop the floor with these guys,"
"You said it." Hunk said giving his teammates a thumbs up.
Keith got on the far side, it was just like the other matches. He was staring Mako dead in the eyes. He growled slightly and got ready to attack. The bell dinged over head and all at once the match started. Mako, Lance, Bolin and hunk all trying their hardest for their teams. Keith immedently threw massive blasts of fire at Mako, making sure to dodge any on coming attacks. He made sure to shoot some fire down at Korra and Bolin too. Lance blasted water at each of the other team in turn; no clear pattern, light on his feet. Hunk on the other hand was standing solid throwing rock after rock at their opponents.  There was a loud crash from over head, and suddenly the glass sealing was shattered shards of it raining down on both teams.
"What the-?!" Keith looked up and used fire to blow the glass shards away from his team. "Hunk, Lance, get down!" He yelled.
Korra covered her head out of panicking instead of trying to bend it out of the way.
Lance looked up just in time to see equalist chi blockers decending from cables in the now gaping hole.
Hunk had hit the floor in an effort to avoid getting ripped to shreds by the glass.
"Run!" Lance shouted, "we need to-" He was cut off as a set of boots hit the floor mere feet from them. The man in the mask himself; Amon.
Keith grabbed Lance and threw him over the side. There was no way he would let his team get hurt by these people. He grabbed Hunk next and jumped off the side, hoping they wouldn't be followed down.
Lance broke the surface of the water carting his team mates up using his bending. He deposited them on the platform bellow the arena, where he hoped they'd all be safe.

Shiro burst through the doors of the arena, through the panicked crowd. "Keith! Hunk! Lance!" He yelled trying to find them his heart pounding. He ran into the stands his heart sinking when he saw that masked monster. "Amon!" He roared, shooting one of his cables and swinging onto the bending platform. He spotted the avatar. "Avatar Korra, the other team? Where are they?"
Keith broke the surface just in time to see his brother. He panicked and let out a loud whistle to let Shiro know where they were. He just hoped it was the right one. They made different whistles to communicate when they got into his situations.

Korra looked at Shiro, clearly scared and confused. "I-I don't know!"
Shiro heard Keith's whistle and whistled back.
"The champion of republic city." Amon said coldly, "back on your feet I see."
"Amon, you are under arrest. For crimes against the people of this city." Shiro said trying to remain calm. He hated it when people called him the city's champion, he didn't deserve it.
"You guys stay here. I have to get up there and help him." Keith told his team. "There's probably other equilists around, so be careful guys." He returned the whistle that he heard.
"Keith no!" Lance grabbed him by the arm. "We need to stay together."
"Lance is right you can't go up there alone." Hunk said getting to his feet.

Amon laughed, "and you think you're going to take me in? Looking to add another metal to your uniform."
Shiro growled, bending his metal arm into a sharp blade. "Come quietly or I will use force." Shiro said still trying to remain calm. "Avatar Korra, Get everyone else in the building out. Take down any equalists you can." He told her, "I'll take care of this."
"No! Officer Shiro, you can't do this alone!" Korra argued and signaled for her team to leave.

"I'm going up there alone because he's my brother. I can't risk having my team get hurt." Keith argued and was ready to get up there. "We need to get chief Beifong here. I don't know why she isn't yet."

"Did you run away from your task force officer?" Amon taunted, "listening to a probending match instead of your radio?"
"That's enough Amon." Shiro said firmly. Mako and Bolin has done as the chief of police came swinging in.
"Shiro, glad to see someone is on the up and up." Beifong said, rare praise.

"Keith please, stay down here with us." Lance begged, "we need to stay safe. Shiro is up there with the avatar he'll be okay."
"No! He lost his arm last time. I won't let him get hurt again. Come with me if you want, but I'm not leaving him up there." Keith growled and went to hit the switch to make the platform raise.

Korra stepped back when Amon's gaze wasn't on her. She got some water ready and shot it at Amon, hoping to freeze him in place.
Shiro took his chance and rushed at the masked man only to be stopped by chi blockers. He kicked, and used his bending to bring the ready made projectiles from the arena flying at his enemies. Amon broke loose from korra's hold, jumping to one side. Beifong was occupied by a few chi blockers of her own unable to aid her subordinate.
Korra gritted her teeth and launched fire at Amon, trying to stop him somehow.

"We're coming with you Keith," Lance said, "we're a team."
"Yeah you're not going up there without us." Hunk said.
Keith hit the switch and the platform started to rise up. "You guys help Chief Beifong, I'm helping Shiro." He told tjem before they got to the top. Once they did, he charged past everyone, targeting the chi blockers that were after Shiro.
"Keith!" Shiro shouted, punching a chi blocker to the ground with his metal fist. "Get out of here! Take the others and go!"
Hunk and Lance fought back to back hitting whoever they could using their bending.
Amon jumped back onto his waiting cable calling his followers to do the same. The equalists started to retreat.
"Shiro! Follow my lead!" Beifong shouted, shooting her wrist cable into the air and going after them. Shiro nodded and did the same.
Keith gritted his teeth and launched himself into the air, staying up from his fire bending. Just a little farther and he would make it...then he felt a sharp pain, like hit the back of his head and everything went black as he started to fall down to the water's surface.
