I sit in my dorm reading Harry Potter for the fourteenth time. I mumble the words under my breath as I do when I get really into a story. So when there's a knock on the door, I jump nearly five feet in the air.

I quickly get up, scrambling. "U-uh, just a minute!" I go and grab some actual clothes, getting dressed and quickly running a brush through my hair. I check in the mirror and decide I look fine. I go and answer the door.

A boy stands there with a smile. "Hello there," he greets, "I heard there was a new vampire at school and got excited." He sticks out his hand out and I shake it, he says, "I'm Lucas. And I know that you're Chayse--err, Princess Chayse." I wave my hand and reply, "Don't bother with that 'princess' crap. I don't even believe it." He laughs, tossing his head back. I smile as I notice his fangs. "Wow," I murmur. He looks at me funny. "What?" I blink and shake my head. "Huh? Oh, sorry, it's just...I've never met another vampire before. Only humans, a werewolf, and a temperamental demon." Lucas chuckles dryly and says, "I'm assuming the werewolf was William and the demon was Amber?" I nod, impressed.

"No one really talks to Amber--she's one of the few demons at the school, and she scares basically everyone. As for Will...he's in charge of finding more Supernaturals to bring here." I nod, smiling. Lucas pauses, then says, "It'd be great to get to know you more, Chayse. Would you meet me for coffee in ten minutes?" I shrug, "Sure." He grins, handing me a slip with his phone number on it. Then he leaves.

Will walks by. He looks at Lucas with an eyebrow raised. He looks at me and asks, "Why was he here and why did he just give me the smuggest look in the world?" I shrug, grabbing my bag and slipping on some shoes. "I'm meeting him for coffee," I say casually. Will's eyes widen and he asks, "Wait, like--on a date?!" I shrug again. "I dunno--I guess." I walk past him, leaving him dumbstruck in my dorm. Then I go to the coffee shop down the street.

I find Lucas and sit with him. He smiles and greets, "Hello, beautiful." I blush and look down at the menu. I pick out a chai latte and Lucas orders a frappacino. He laces his fingers together in front of him and says, "I'm glad you agreed to come here. I'd love to get to know you." I smile and reply, "I'd like to get to know you, too." He grins.

We spend the next hour and a half talking and I discover that Lucas is very interesting. We leave the coffee shop and go back to my dorm. He looks at me as I set my bag down and says, 'I'm glad we were able to hang out." He pauses, then gives me a quick kiss. Then he leaves.

I stand there and a smile finds my face.

I walk from third period to the cafeteria the next day, going for a blood bag. As I pass a group of giggling girls I hear a snippet of gossip. "Oh my gosh, did you hear? Lucas Vandeire has gone missing!" There's a few gasps and I stop, looking at the girl who said it. "Wait, what?" I ask. She looks at me and does a small bow. "A-a-ah, yes, Princess. Lucas Vandeire was reported missing this morning." I think back to yesterday about what Will said and thank the girl, walking brusquely to Will's dorm.

I bang on the door. "William Harris, open this door right now!" The door opens and I walk in. He says nonchalantly, "Hello, Chayse. What's up?" I glare at him. "Did you hear, Lucas Vandeire has been reported missing. You know, the boy I was with yesterday? The one you were so fucking upset about me seeing?" I growl, crossing my arms. Will hides a small smile. He replies, "Huh, that's quite interesting. The boy you kissed--"

"How do you know we kissed?!"

Will pauses. He looks at me and says seriously, "Chayse, it's my job to protect you. I'm always near." I roll my eyes and ask, "Did you have anything to do with Lucas' disappearance?" Will shrugs, mimicking my crossed arms. "I'm not saying that I did it, but I will say that he might be in a cargo plane on the way to Greenland." I glare at him and punch him hard in the stomach.

Will recovers from the blow quickly and pins me back against his door. "What are you--' My words are interrupted by a pair of lips smashing into mine. My eyes widen as Will pulls back. His hands are on my hips, and his face is right in front of mine. This close I see that his eyes raen't black; they're very, very dark brown. So dark that I can barely see the separation between his pupil and iris. His eyes flit around my face and pause on my lips. He looks me in the eyes and I grab his face, kissing him. Will kisses me back.

There's a moment as we break away as I murmur, "I'm still pissed at you for sending Lucas away." He nods. "I know." Then our lips mash together again.
