"I'm gonna be a good dad" or something along the lines of that. Shedded a few tears writing this... but not because of this I was listening to Shawn's album and yk... obvs lol. I tried to make this cute.
Shawn's Point Of View
The sun shone through the curtains on a Saturday morning. I had Skyler on my chest asleep because she ran into my room saying she couldn't sleep at four in the morning. I was awake and when I wake up there's no turning back. I checked the time and also took a look at the date.
June ninth.
I let out a sigh and put my phone back on the beside table. I put a hand on Skyler's small back and she snuggled closer.
She looked just like her mum.
As Skyler stirred in her sleep and began to drool on my chest. I stroked her hair as I waited for her to wake up. However, my ringtone went off and she woke up. She squinted and rubbed her eyes.
"Morning." I smiled.
She smiled too.
Andrew was calling. He called last year on June ninth to make sure I was alright and if I needed anything.
"Is it mummy?" Skyler asked.
My smile slowly turned into a frown. "No, baby," I replied.
She reached for my phone and almost fell off the bed but I got her and she giggled. "It's Andrew calling," she told me.
I got my phone and picked up his second call. Skyler climbed off me and I got out of bed. I walked to her side and picked her up then walked to the kitchen.
"Hi, Andrew!" she shouted into the phone.
Andrew giggled. "Hey, Skyler."
I smiled and set Skyler down on the floor. After I finished Andrew's call, I made Skyler and I breakfast. She had cereal and so did I. I sat across her on the table as she ate her cereal - there was milk running down her chin into the bowl again. That made me smile a little.
"When is mummy coming back?" she asked, out of nowhere.
I froze.
Y/N had been gone for a year today. She was kidnapped. For months we had people searching for her but she couldn't be found so eventually the police stopped searching for her. I gave up hope as well. Two years later, she could have been anywhere.
"I-I don't know," I stuttered.
Skyler gave me a sad look and I bit my lip to stop myself from crying. Not in front of Skyler I wouldn't. I couldn't.
"Ooh, when do we go back to the place with that tilted tower?" she, excitedly, asked. She could tell that I didn't want to talk about Y/N so she switched the subject.
"Soon," with a smile I responded.
Taking Skyler touring with me may not have been a good idea because of all the quick timings and stress but I couldn't leave her behind. I mean, I could've, but why would I want to? I didn't want to leave her behind for nine months or something like that then see her three months out of twelve. She liked touring and the watching the shows. Nothing helped me get through anything as much as she did. The team always had extra careful with her and carried as much security as possible but I was usually carrying her in my arms around the places or holding her hand. The fans loved her too.
They made memes of her just like they did with me.
I took her and my bowl to wash in the sink. She waited for me and once I was done I walked with her upstairs to get ready. I did her hair, helped her brush her teeth and allowed her to pick out her own clothes. As I got myself ready, she went downstairs and watched cartoons.
I came downstairs after I was done and sat with her. "What are you watching?"
"Disney," she replied.
Becoming a parent means that you'll have to endure shows like Peppa Pig, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Princess Sofia for years. Eventually, you start to find them somewhat enjoyable.
After one show, Skyler was getting bored so she turned to me. "Can we go and do something today?"
I looked down at her. "What do you have in mind?"
"I want that hot chocolate from that café," she told.
"Good idea," I told.
She jumped off the couch and went to grab her shoes that she couldn't tie up. I did them for her and slipped on my Chelsea boots, grabbed my car keys and closed the door behind me. Skyler skipped in front of me.
"Slow down!" I shouted with a chuckle.
She stopped and looked back as she waited for me. I used the elevator to get to the bottom floor and allowed Skyler to press the button to the last floor because she could reach that one on her tippy toes. The elevator door opened followed by a ding.
"Race to the car?" I proposed.
Her face lit up.
"On three... one, two... three!"
We ran down the lobby and out the door which I held open for her and then kept running after her. She reached the Range Rover before me.
"I won!" she celebrated.
I chuckled and opened the back door for her, strapped her into the chair and closed it. I got into the driver's seat and started the car, driving off. As the radio turned on, the lady announced my song.
"It's you, daddy!" Skyler pointed out. "Turn up the volume!"
I did as she said. It was In My Blood that was playing on the radio.
