Chapter 8
"I know that must've of hurt when you got that in," He stated in
astonishment as he stared at metal ball in my tongue. I smiled before popping a french fry in my mouth, once I'm done chewing it, I respond to Luke, "It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would or maybe I have a high tolerance for pain who knows. However, I couldn't eat anything except ice cream and soft food during the first week."Luke shook his head in disbelief before he spoke. "No way," He eyed me strangely.
I shook my head with a smile. "Yes way, "
He reached over the table to grab a fry off my tray. "You're crazy I would never think about getting a tongue ring."
I shrugged my shoulders.
"That's you. You know I was going through my rebellious stage, wanting to do something different. I don't intend to keep it in long," I replied, casually while taking a sip of my drink. I glanced at the clock on the cafeteria wall.
We only have 10 more minutes left of lunch. I get up from the table "Hey Luke, since lunch is almost over. I'm going to stop by the bathroom on my way to class, " I told him, while gathering the trash to place on my tray.
"Okay, bye. See you in class, " He told me.
I saluted. "Bye Luke," I walked away from the table and towards the trashcans to dump my tray in it. I start making my way to the bathroom. I hear my footsteps as I walk down the deserted hallway.
Once I'm inside I go over to sink to wash my hands. I looked at myself in the mirror, a blonde haired girl stared back at me. Looking as tired and exhausted. Her green eyes looked as though they've lost the spark they had before. I knew if I took off this foundation I would definitely have dark circles.
I washed my hands, after that I grabbed a paper towel to dry my hands when I hear a low sniffle from one of the bathroom stalls. I glance at it, curiously. Was someone in there? As much as I wanted to see who that was, I decided that I need to mind my own business. Then again I heard that low sniffle again.
"Are you okay in there?" I called out, quietly to the stall in which I hear the noises coming from. I frowned I didn't get an answer.
I walk over to the still before lightly tapping. "Excuse me," I asked but I still didn't get an answer. Oh well then. I shrugged, turning around to exit the bathroom.
"Bryce," A soft feminine voice called out causing me to freeze in my tracks. I turn around slowly, I don't recognize that voice. Who is that? I asked myself. The stall door swung open, there stands unfamiliar girl with fiery red hair. Her face stained with tears and clutched in her hand is tissues.
"Do I know you?" I asked her, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
She looks down before replying "I've seen you around, also you're in my 2nd period, "
Oh I never seen her or maybe I just wasn't paying attention. I see her lips tremble, I walked closer to her. "Are you okay?"
The more I stared at her, the more my concern grew for her. Not only was her eyes, red and puffy from crying. But it seems like the girl can barely stand. She sways, slightly on her feet. My eyes widened in alarm. I put my hands on her arms. She blinked frantically, before she collapsed in my arms.
I stared at the girl in shock, what the hell? Over my head I hear bell rings, signaling the end of lunch. I try my best to pick her up, I only get to the bathroom door before I almost drop her. I need someone to help me bring her to the clinic. I lay her gently on the floor before I open the ladies restroom. My eyes scan for a person that could help me in the crowd of teenagers.
