"Hello, Alana. I know it's been a while since we've talked but I need your help right now. A nigga is drunk as hell and I need some company. There's a lot of catching up we need to do since you left me for that nigga but, I just need you right now. The door will be unl-" August's drunk voice came through Alana's phone, slurring and shaky. Alana immediately began to worry about her best friend when the voicemail ended with a sound that sounded like a painful fall.
She looked at the clock. which read 2:37 am, then looked at her boyfriend, Deandre, who was sound asleep. Alana listened to the message again and the more she listened to it, the more she wanted to go.
Truth is, she felt bad because she cut August off once she began seeing Deandre because she fell in love with Deandre and forgot about August. She didn't mean to but that's the way it worked out.
After listening to it the third time, Alana put on some leggings and a short sleeve crop hoodie before grabbing her keys and phone then leaving. She made her way to August's house and walked in since he said it was unlocked.
August was still laying on the stairs where he had went to after he had fell in the kitchen, asleep. He woke up when he heard Alana's voice calling his name.
"On the stairs!" August yelled back as he shakily got up. Alana walked to the stairs and immediately hugged August when she saw the bags under his bloodshot eyes and the bruise from his cheek hitting his counter.
"August, are you okay?" She asked as she stepped back, looking up as he balanced himself with one hand on the wall. She went to rub his the bruise but August moved his face.
