So I have an entire story line for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 planned out and partly written, the only problem is I forgot the film was set in 2014 and not the year it was released 2017. The date in the film didnt seemed to effect the plot so if I were to change the date of the events to 2017 would everyone be okay with that? Maybe Gurdains 3 is about what happened in those 3 years but who knows, as of right now I don't believe it taking place in 2014 has that big of an impact on the story line.
