Lauren sat patiently on the doctors table, swinging her legs back and forth and gripping Ty's hand in hers. Today was the day that the doctor would finally tell them what their bugs gender is. She couldn't be more excited. It had been a few of weeks since she had seen her baby on screen. She knew it sounded ridiculous, but she actually missed it. She missed seeing the baby move on the screen and hear it's heartbeat. She loved to get the ultrasound pictures every time so she could look at how her baby had grown overtime. She had decided to buy a pale yellow binder and stick all of the pictures in there. It was truly magical that they had created something so precious.
She looked down at her hands that were playing with Ty's fingers. The bruise from her IV was still visible and dark purple on the back her right hand. It hurt to touch but now that it was there it was a constant reminder that she should be drinking water.
Everyone was now in Miami, Ty and Ally were staying with Lauren at her childhood home with her parents. He had ordered a hotel room for his mom and Angel. Dinah and Normani ordered their own room at the same hotel.
Jailynn would be down in a couple of days in time for the reveal, until then she was staying with one of her other relatives in Las Angeles. Ty had said that she would stay with his mom and his sister until they left to go home, but Clara had insisted that she stay with them, saying that she could share a room with Taylor until they left. Taylor had agreed and said that it would be nice to have someone to go places with than by herself. She may be a little older than Jailynn, but she still gets excited about having friends stay the night.
The door opening and booming voice brought Lauren back to earth. A very tall man wearing a white coat and purple scrubs came through the door. At first she was a little intimidated by his height and loud voice.
"Hello Mrs. uhh, um, Lauren. Let's just call you Lauren." He said as he took a look at the papers in his hand. He looked back up and smiled at her. She had seen that look many times in her life, it no longer surprised her that someone couldn't pronounce her last name.
"Jauregui." She said and sounded out the syllables. She put a hand on her stomach as he began to walk closer to her. She couldn't help it, it was just how she defended her baby. If she had felt short when standing next to Ty, standing next to this man would be unimaginable.
"Oh that's right. Lauren Jauregui, I'll remember that next time." He said. No you won't, no one ever does. Lauren thought to herself. He looked at the papers in his hands and flipped them over. "Everything looks great, Mrs. Jauregui. Let's just check on this baby now. Are we finding out the gender today?"
"Yes, but don't tell us. Can you just put it in an envelope, please?" She asked as she laid back and pulled up her black and white striped shirt. She rested at the top of her ever growing baby bump. She honestly hadn't noticed who much her baby had grown until she laid her head back and her feet disappeared over the bump. She looked up at Ty and smiled widely. He looked back down at her and was slightly confused be her sudden happiness, but he smiled back at her anyways.
"I can do that if that's what you want. Do you want any pictures today?" The doctor asked and poured the clear blue gel on her stomach and started to move the wand around.
"Yes, please." She told him. He nodded and continued to search, looking at the screen until he found what he was looking for.
Lauren felt herself melt as she looked up to the screen to see her baby moving around. She heard its little heartbeat and felt the slightest bit of tears well up in her eyes. She looked back up to Ty who was looking at the screen with amusement.
Sure he had seen every single one of the ultrasound pictures Lauren had, but he couldn't really tell a difference in any of them. She would point out all of its body parts, head, legs, arms, nose, fingers, and toes but all he could see was an apparition of a tiny child. He never really understood the hype of seeing a child before it had been born, he had never went to any of Jailynn's ultrasound appointments and he had only been to one of the new baby's appointments. But once he heard the rapid heartbeat fill the room he had completely understood her excitement every time she had shown him a picture of their unborn baby.
