Gahyeon was waiting, seven figures at her side.

She waited in a little clearing near to their destination, patient and uncomplaining. There was nothing to complain about, really, she liked the suspense. No nerves dwelled within her, only adrenalin, because she knew nothing could go wrong. So it was easy to be patient.

Her companions were slightly less patient, especially the needy ones.

'I'm starving,' moaned Gluttony, clutching his stomach and leaning against a tree. Gahyeon didn't really know whether they were 'she's or 'he's or 'it's, so she decided to go with 'he' for now, seeing as all their vessels were male. Not that it mattered, because all the vessels were dead anyway.

Envy rolled his beady eyes, a sour expression on his face. 'You should be grateful you're going to get anything out of this. At least you'll get pleasure from eating their flesh, while the rest of us don't really get anything out of it.' He turned to another one of them. 'Remind me why we're actually bothering to do this, Wrath?'

'Hear, hear,' grumbled Sloth.

Wrath faced them, a malicious glint in both his eyes and his mouth curled into a cruel sneer.

'Because we'll get pleasure out of this too,' he answered. 'I promise it'll be long and drawn out. Don't you want to see the looks on their faces as we kill them, slowly ripping them to shreds?'

The looks on all the demons' faces changed from doubtful to wicked, hungry expressions in their eyes. Wrath continued, 'Plus, you know killing the leftovers isn't our main goal. Let's not forget how this all happened. We owe it to our little friend here, without whom we would still be fighting that pestering fire girl.' He gestured to Gahyeon, as if toasting her, a glint in his eye that wasn't quite pride, but something more like triumph. Then he laughed, a cold, merciless laugh. 'And of course, our other prime helper: Jiu! She was pathetically weak and served as a good host to me for a while. It's a shame she had to reject me, but no matter. She won't be free for long.'

Gahyeon smiled cruelly in agreement, and the other demons mirrored her grin wickedly.

They're mocking your friends again, Gahyeon. Are you just going to stand for this?

The voice was back, small and sad in the back of her mind. Gahyeon groaned inwardly, ignoring it. Hopefully it would disappear once this was all over and done with. She focused her attention back to Wrath, who was still talking about their helpers.

'And last but not least, our friend who has been working tirelessly from the inside. Of course he may have needed a bit of persuasion...' Wrath laughed, pulling something from his pocket Gahyeon hadn't seen before. It was a voodoo doll, with buttons for eyes and red thread holding the plain grey fabric together. A weird, almost unsettling feeling hung over her as Wrath held it up like a trophy, waving its limp, droopy limbs in the air.

Gahyeon.

The voice was deadly serious, warning her. She hesitated, not shutting it out completely.

Think for a minute. Concentrate hard on that doll and remember. You know what it is, don't you? You know what it does.

She stared at the doll still, its lifeless eyes seeming less lifeless the longer she looked. A feeling of fear and unease crept over her.

'...tricked and betrayed the people he once called his best friends to help us. And really, after I whispered in his ear, after I showed him what he could really do, he obliged. It only took a few words to convince him, nothing more. Soon he'd chant them like a mantra, tossing and turning in his sleep like a madman...'
