As the Pelican docked, the Spartans walked off helping the ODST off. "Again, thank you." She turned to face them as Aloe waved her hand. "Don't mention it kid, it's what we do." The trooper nodded and walked away. As the Spartans made their way to their barracks Alex sighed. "You know, that was really low, sending all those troopers to just get slaughtered like that. I understand us, but what did they do? They aren't super human, the UNSC knows damn well they can't last in those types of missions." He said tossing his helmet off onto his bed. "You get used to it kid, its practically what they were made for." Aloe said sitting on her bed. "They're glorified cannon fodder, a step up from marines really." Alex crossed his arms and shook his head. "Still doesn't make it right." Joseph and Shepard sat in their respective beds leaning back. "We can complain all we want, its not gonna change how fucked up this place really is you know." Joseph crossed his arms. "What we can do is save as many people as we can, just to fuck with them." Shepard nodded slightly. "I mean, they already don't like us. Why not do some good from it?" The others nod in agreement. Dr. Larson turned from her computer and fixed her glasses. "You know, you are a bunch of sweeties. Most Spartans I meet are so stubborn and machine like. Always the mission and orders. You all, aren't like that. Despite the negative gestures you poke at each other, you feel, human." She looked over at all of them and smiled a little. "Almost like a family, I noticed how easily all of you clicked. Even being different generations of Spartans you all feel the same." The others gave a soft chuckle. "Well, aren't you the real ass kisser? Thank you Doctor, that means a lot." Aloe said smiling a little more.
After sometime, while the others were asleep, Jospeh rolled over and sighed. "Hey, Aloe, you awake over there." She groaned softly rolling onto her back. "Do you really think these UNSC fucks will actually get rid of us?" Aloe opened one eye slightly. "No...they won't, not while I'm here..." She spoke groggily. "You guys, you're real disappointing...but you are my fire team, and to me, my fire team is family....so you don't have to worry about a thing..." She spoke, her voice drifting again. "Thanks Aloe, that puts my mind at ease." Jospeh rolled onto his back. All he got in response was a soft snore. With a chuckle Jospeh closed his eyes and fell back to sleep.
