I always used to see her sewing clothes whenever I used to wake up in the middle of the night but I never asked her to go back to bed because it was her earning that we were living on.

A few days later, she started coming to bed early so by the time I reached home which was around 10 PM, she was already asleep; and oh my, the way she used to sleep, I mean, Disney should've casted her as Sleeping Beauty, it looked as if she was in paradise and there is no such thing that could bother her. The peace on her beautiful face was all this world could have ever needed to make it a better place. I gwaked at her, thinking that this facial expression is what I always want to see on her face, it was just so tranquil, like that face was so unaware of this filthy and selfish world.

I fell asleep with my son in the middle and Marissa next to him while admiring her beauty on a simple platform bed that I built for her and Asher. I suddenly woke up when I felt like I heard someone murmuring. Who could it be? A ghost was the first thing that came to my mind but seriously, what kind of ghost would choose a misery house over a huge and lovely rose gold mansion which was literally two streets away? I slowly tilted my head up in terror with a blanket that covered my face for protection from the creature, I saw Marissa sitting on the side of the bed with her face towards the cracked whitewashed wall.

"What are you doing in the middle of the night?" I asked her as I began my usual pandiculation procedure of rubbing my eyes and yawning. She kept on mumbling and I got no clear answer to my question so I went to her side of the bed and knelt down on the wooden floor, asking her the same question again but still got no response.

"Go back to bed and stop thinking or doing whatever you are." I swiftly said as I jumped back to the bed, lying flat on my stomach.

"What happened to you last night and what were you saying?" I questioned her the next morning while I was getting ready for work.
"Huh?..What....l-last night? W-when? I don't know what you are saying," she cluelessly stammered.
"You woke up at midnight and were muttering."
"Umm... Really? I don't remember, you must've had a dream."

I was baffled but I just ignored it thinking that she was probably right as I was also pretty tired the day before.

And that right there was the first mistake that I made-me ignoring the whole situation- and it was also the beginning of the very end; my first step to the door of tragedy.
