A/N: I understand that from how long EX has been comatose, she would approximately take years to walk normally, with medical help. This however, is a book, and since I want there to be a story, I'm going to take a couple leaps in logic and say she recovered in a couple months. Also, no disrespect to real coma victims, I respect that many people do not recover like this, and I give you my best wishes if you are struggling because of that.
---Flower POV---
-two weeks later-I helped EX up, and tried to help her walk. She clenched her teeth and her veins bulged, but she took a step. One after another, until EX had walked across the treehouse. She fell onto the floor as soon as my grip loosened on her waist. She panted and gasped. She rubbed her leg, wrapping herself up into a ball, and tearing up with a hideous grin. She looked at me with tired eyes and reached out a hand.
Lets do this again, then.
I've been doing this every day after coming home from school, since my parents were out. I tried to avoid my friends and make them think I was mad at them, because to get them involved in my dumb choice was probably not the best idea. I had started pretending I wanted to be a doctor, pulling out books on comas and trying to help EX's condition.
I had been impressed by the fact that despite having been in a coma, she had never forgotten how to read. I tried to get her to write sentences, but her hand didn't have enough control to write properly. The chilling part was how much it looked like the notes back at the lab. Had she written them?
What had Thea done to her? What was the experiment for? It stopped changing my appearance after the first two surgeries, and I wasn't anymore resistant to cuts, proven courtesy of EX and her sharp nails.
I snapped out of it with a snap. EX was walking beside me, using the old cane I had stolen from what my grandfather had left behind, from his previous visit. She still needed support, but at least she didn't need crutches, because I have
no way of getting those. She looked a bit funny, walking was taking its toll on her, but she still smiled.I could feel my heart skip a beat at the smile. She was so cute, but I was wrong about innocent. She was no idiot, and seemed to know, or maybe learn, a lot very fast. I smiled back at her. What was wrong with me? I don't have time for this!
EX looked around, and suddenly got stars in her eyes. She was staring at... a lighter? She dropped her cane and picked it up so fast that for moment it looked like she could walk normally. She picked up her walking aid and using her other hand, she opened the lighter.
The flame seemed to put her in a trance and she lit her hair on fire. It was like a diabolical crown, I shut my eyes and threw some snow at her to put out the flames. I hesitated, prepared to see her burnt scalp and clumps of hair on the ground. I looked, but their was no damage done. I looked over her head again, but nothing had changed from prior to the fire, aside from the snow.
She sneezed, reminding me that she was still a person. I swiped the snow out and thanked god that there wasn't anyone nearby. I didn't take the lighter away from her, because it hadn't done any damage, so as long as she was careful, it'd be fine.
I tried a couple more times to see what would happen if I tried to Burn her in various places, now I was going to try something else.
I looked at her, and around the junkyard and but my lip. Her bare body shivered in the cold, and I felt myself hesitate a tiny bit, before continuing. She looked so weak, so I felt an extra chill creep up my spine as I splashed with gasoline.
She smiled as I watched her ignite. The flames were so terrifying but she didn't change much aside from now looking less cold. I grabbed some water and threw it on her, then I realized my mistake.
Gasoline fire + water = explosion.
I covered my face with my arms as the shockwave blew out. I heard a crash and when I looked up, EX was on the ground.
No... No! No! No!
---EX POV---
I was dazed on the ground. Stars twinkled above me, I however, had stolen their light tonight. Flower slowly trudged over to me. I could see tears in her eyes and her mouth was in a grimace. Her body was tense.
"Y soo ad?" I asked, looking at her.
"You're okay!" She yelled as she jumped down hugged me tightly.
"Y woodn't ah b?"
"I... didn't know you were explosion proof..." her voice trailed off as I placed her head in the crook of my neck.
"U don't kneed to wowwy soo mach necks time." I stated it with a tone of finality. She didn't pull away, and I felt some of her tears run down my bare chest. I smiled, everything was okay. Take that back, one thing was wrong, I wasn't wearing anything sitting in the snow!
I'm probably going to get frostbite.
---Flower POV---
I pulled EX's shivering body up and gave her my coat. She wrapped it around herself tightly, and it reminded me of two weeks ago. Familiar scenario, huh?
I just hope things stay like this.
