12 - CHASE

I went to find Alice, because I heard she was a healer. When I found her and told her that Aaron needed help, she ran to Aaron. I watched by the stairs and was relieved that Aaron was ok. I didn't want to loose a new friend or maybe a future brother in law (Stop throwing things at me!) or Taylor's brother-ish.

When I got time to think, anger washed over me. How could Luke do that to Taylor, that was like if Kayla betrayed me! When I thought about it like that, it made me feel worse for Taylor, and made me want to punch Luke more.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Luke with a hand over his mouth in shock in what happened to Aaron, and I ran to him not even knowing what I was going to do, or regret. "What was that!" I yelled.

"I didn't mean for that to happen, I was just-" Luke didn't finish. He didn't have an explanation. "When you're raised by certain rules all your life, you tend to follow them."

"And Taylor!" I said. "What you said would be like having Aaron betray you."

"Who was the one betrayed?" Luke snapped. "I raised her and she couldn't choose so how do I know if she really thinks of me as family. Why would she choose people she never met?"

"What's wrong with Greeks?" I asked. "Kayla and I are Greek and we don't get all bloody with anyone."

"Your Greek?" Luke said with surprise in his voice.

"Would you kill me?" I asked. "Or Kayla?" Luke said nothing. He didn't want to talk. A door opened next to us. "Crap." I mumbled.

We were outside of Taylor's room, and we were loud so there's no doubt that she heard. "Ok stop." She said dead serious. (Pun not intended. Yes Kayla, I get it, bad puns are your thing, I'm sorry. Hey! Don't hit me, it's just the truth!) "Look at what I did. I turned everyone against each other. And, um, where's Aaron and Kayla?"

We both didn't answer but Luke pointed downstairs. Taylor walked to the stairs and saw Aaron on the floor with Alice and Kayla at his side. "I-" Taylor was speechless, "how?"

We both hesitated. I saw drops of sweat coming off of Luke's face. We finally explained to I told her what happened. She stood in silence for a long time, too long, like she was rethinking everything. "I guess the choice is clear on where I should go." Taylor said with a shaky breath.

Luke looked like he already knew. "No Taylor." He said. I saw Aaron, Kayla, Alice, Jack, and Lindsey walk up behind Taylor.

"Well look what happened. I'll visit you," she said choking back a sob. She couldn't bring herself to look at Luke. Was it because she was ashamed of him? No that's not Taylor, it was because she didn't want to leave, but she didn't have a choice. Aaron walked up to Taylor and hugged her, both of them with tears in their eyes. Taylor walked to her room door.

"I better pack," she mumbled.

Aaron followed her in her room, I don't blame him. This might be the last time he sees her. When the door closed I went to Kayla, after what happened today, I wanted to stay by her.

Luke fell to his knees with his eyes wide. For the first time I felt bad for him, everything that he said was because he wanted Taylor to stay. Alice went next to Luke and hugged him. Kayla and I gave each other the same look, we both felt bad. We stood awkwardly next to Luke.

"Luke, I'm sorry. You may not believe me but I am truly sorry." Kayla said.

She hit me in the arm even though it wasn't needed, I was about to say it anyway. "Yeah Luke, I'm very sorry." (Don't facepalm, Kayla! It was an okay thing to say!)

He looked at us and nodded his head, but we still felt horrible. Taylor and Aaron walked out of the room with a backpack on her back. She held two things in her hand and gave one to Aaron and the other to Luke. They looked at it and looked confused.

"I saved up my whole life and I bought you two a phone. They were going to be a Christmas present or a birthday present but now seemed like a good time."

They both smiled a little bit, happy to keep in contact with her. They both got up and hugged her. They seemed like a normal family for those last few minutes then she let go and looked at me, Kayla, Jack, and Lindsey.

"So, let's go to camp" she said.
