After the talk with Chase I went to our room as he went the complete opposite direction. When I opened the door Aphrodite's visit popped back into my head. Aaron crying after he drooled for some reason. The mixed feelings she gave off to both of us.

I don't care. I do not care. Screw her. Screw that. And more importantly, screw him. I plopped face first into my bed just as someone knocked on the door. "Go away," I groaned.

The door opened anyway. I turned expecting Aaron but instead found a girl. Blonde hair that looked similar to Aaron's but gray eyes instead of green. "Kayla?" she asked.

I nodded. "That's me."

"Great," she said, smiling, "my name is Alice. I've heard about you and Chase since I got back from my trip."

I blinked. "People have talked about us?"

Alice laughed as if she thought I was joking, before she realized I wasn't. "Oh," she said before continuing, "people have talked about you two, well more you than your brother, when we were first told about you."

"Who told you? And why me more than the both of us?"

Alice sighed. "Horus told us, silly. He is the new king sense the new age was put into place by two of our best magicians. But as to why you? Well you are the heir of love, are you not?" I nodded and she continued with her speech. "Well, Horus also told us you were the key. His exact words were, The heir of love shall be your savior. The bridge to victory, or so they think."

I gulped. He just said me, the heir of love. Is Chase another heir of love? Can there be two? Or is it just one? My mind raced with the possibility the whole, save the world thing, was only in my hands, not both my brother and mine.

I took a breath and collected my thoughts, not showing any uneasiness, "So this whole thing has been placed into my hands without me knowing?"

Alice nodded slowly. "I suppose. You're taking this awfully well, Kayla."

"I've trained myself," I replied, smiling. She smiled, not seeing through my disguise.

She looked back before walking out, closing the door behind her. I let out a sigh of relief, and sat down on my bed. My gaze landed on the window, looking at each star, wishing on them, one after the other.

I fell backwards, laying on my bed. My eyes started closing but my mind wouldn't shut up. What if I fail? What'll happen to everyone? I groaned and rubbed my eyes. "I just need to go for a walk and clear my head, that should help."

Opening my door, I stared once more out the window before stepping out. I looked both ways and saw nothing. No movement, no noise. That made me wonder, What time is it? I grabbed my phone from my bed and checked; 10:00 PM. "Oh," I said quietly.

Nonetheless, I started walking down the stairs, making my way to outside.

I breathed in the crisp, cold air. It felt nice compared to the air inside. My blue hoodie was pulled over my head, covering my red hair. No one was outside at this hour, just as no one was awake inside.

My feet started moving before my brain even registered it. Both hands in my pockets. The view was not as nice as the one outside my window, but the stars shined brighter than they did with the higher view point, which makes no sense.

I made my way over to the water, which I believe is the Gulf of Mexico. I turned, facing the big city, taking in the way it looks when it's dark. "Texas is so wonderful," I said to myself. Sitting near the edge, I put my feet in the cooling water.

A voice suddenly spoke, one I almost immediately recognized, "You like the water, too?"

I didn't even look back. "It's like another home to me. The water is someplace I collect my thoughts."

Aaron sat next to me. "Luke told me something earlier." I looked at him and he continued. "I think it works with you too. He said, you look sad when you think nobody's looking. I think that's true for both you and me."

I stared in his green eyes, so similar to mine. "How do you know about me? I get you knowing yourself, but how me?"

Aaron stared out into the water. "Earlier, when your mom came, I saw a side I never saw before. I may have only known you for a few minutes, like a day even, and I saw it. Still don't know why you showed it to me, but I saw the broken Kayla. The one with the weight of the world on her shoulders but who still stood, fighting."

My eyes started tearing up. "Is that how you see me? A girl who hides her feelings?"

Aaron shook his head and grabbed my hands, holding them close to him. "That's not even close to what I see when I look at you, Kayla." A blush spread across my cheeks. "What I see is a girl who smiles, even when the odds are low. You still look up at all the good, you find it and give it to others. I'm glad they sent Taylor and I to save you, cause if they didn't I wouldn't have met you. And if I didn't meet you, I would've been lost and stuck with Taylor."

He took a breath, "Kayla Strike, I think you've got me wrapped around your finger."

Aaron cupped my cheek, and grabbed my waist, bringing me closer to him. His lips touched mine, not much just gently there, waiting to be released onto mine. It was my turn to pull him closer, making our lips touch. Ours foreheads touching, too. We separated, but held each other, not wanting to let one other go.

"I think you've got me, Aaron Cruz," I said, smiling at him.

Aaron smiled back. "Guess it's fair then." He kissed my forehead, before letting go and standing. "I think I might sleep well tonight."

"You couldn't sleep either?"

Aaron shook his head as I stood. "Sleep just didn't agree with me, so I went on a walk. Little did I know that was going to happen."

I laughed. "You think I did?"

"You are the daughter of Aphrodite, don't you have that kind of power?" Aaron asked, joking.

"Don't know," I shrugged, then joked, "I'll tell you once I find out." I winked at him, and he laughed.

Aaron turned back towards the city. "I think I can wait that long." He slipped his hand in mine, and together we walked back to our house. My heart wouldn't stop beating at the fast pace it was at. Being with Aaron turned on all my senses.

He made me feel like the Queen of the world.
