The woman bit her lip to keep in the sounds of pain she desperately wanted to make. She had already seen her husband tortured and killed right in front of her, with his eyes begging forgiveness right before he was killed with a sword to the heart.
The woman glared at her captives, knowing without a doubt that she would have killed them on the spot had her hands not been shackled to the ceiling, and her ankles to the floor. The man in front of her smirked, sauntering forward and brushing a strand of her fiery red hair from her face. She would have jerked away if she hadn't known that doing that made the pain worse.
"Aw come now, remember what I said, pumpkin. Tell us where your daughters are, and we let you go, easy." The man grinned at her, showing the white teeth that went with his pale blonde hair. Tears welled up in her eyes as she remember the curly white hair of her husband. Ember gritted her teeth and spoke lowly. "I would rather give my life up than tell you where my daughters are. But why would you betray him? Why betray Storm? My husband did nothing but praise you during our time at the Academy and helped you for years. This is the worst of betrayals that anyone can think of."
The man's light green eyes flashed dangerously, and he growled lowly before putting a sword directly on Ember's heart. "You'd better watch your words, Ember. I know exactly what he did, and it wasn't praising me. Your daughter's will find out soon enough, once I find them. But until then, bye-bye little Ember."
Ember's eyes closed as she felt the sword rip through her skin into her heart, and, with her dying breath, she used her abilities to transmit a single thought to her husbands dragon, the only one who would live now.
Find them.
