Keith hung his head and crossed his arms in thought as Lance took off in Red. Keith had wanted to say something to the obviously disturbed Lance but he just didn't know what to say. Maybe I didn't have to say anything Keith thought guiltily. Maybe I just had to do something to show him I care. He furrowed his brow, his heart aching. He was guilty about brushing off Lance when he hadn't seen him in over two years, and he felt bad because he was too afraid to go up and talk to him. Keith had noticed Lance was always by himself, talking to the animals instead of with the others. He also noticed how the others brutally made fun of him and how Lance hadn't hit on Allura the entire time Keith had been there. There were so many things off about him that he wanted to talk to Lance about it but Lance seemed to be avoiding him. It tore Keith apart because he had no clue what to do.

Keith walked back into the Garrison, his mom watching him quietly from the inside. Keith was a little startled to see her at first but softened when she laid a hand on his shoulder.

"You're worried about him, aren't you?" She asked him softly.

"He isn't himself. I don't know what's wrong with him and every time I go to talk to him, I feel like he's pushing me away."

"It makes sense though. You were sort of harsh to him when you returned."

"But we had to capture Lotor" Keith retaliated. Krolia shook her head.

"You can't always put the mission above all else Keith, no matter what the Blade says. We had this conversation when we talked about why I left when you were a baby. You also left to go to the Blade in order to protect those you love, the team, not to fight Lotor. But now you're back. This is the time you need to spend with him now that you're back, and whether he's resentful you left or not, you need to go to him." Krolia let the words sink in.

"It's so obvious that he's screaming for help. I just don't get how the others haven't noticed." Keith paused for a moment, then continued. "I want to go help him but I want to give him space while he visits his family, and I want to show visit Dad's grave." Krolia nodded and cupped his cheek, smiling sadly at him. He returned the smile and she kissed him on the forehead gently. They headed back into the Garrison, going to head out to Keith's old home, but without Keith first glancing back at the night sky, clear of any trace of where Lance was.

Keith sat down on his old couch in the living room and his mom was asleep in the other room where his old bed was. The moonlight poured through the windows and onto him, a fresh change of clothes on his skin refreshing. His jacket was draped around his shoulders as he examined his blade in the moonlight. His wolf was asleep on the other couch to his right and he smiled as he patted the wolf's head. Keith couldn't stop thinking about Lance and how he had reacted today. Honestly, he couldn't stop thinking about how he had been reacting the entire time since his return. Had his comment from when he got back really rubbed him that wrong? Or was something else going on that Keith didn't know about? Keith clenched the hilt of his knife in frustration. Deep down, he wanted to see Lance happy. He wanted Lance to make fun of him and he wanted to banter back and forth with Lance. He wanted to tell him all about his time on the Space Whale and he wanted to know what Lance had done while he was gone. He wanted to know everything, he wanted to talk to Lance so badly but he was so distant. He missed his friend. My best friend Keith thought bitterly. Keith placed the knife under his pillow as he laid down on his side, staring at the coffee table in front of him. His mind raced back to a flashback he embarrassingly had on the Space Whale.

Keith and Krolia, his mom, were sitting around the fire they lit in the little cave they had called home for a year. They were eating dinner when a flash of light caused them to witness a flashback. This time, it was Keith's.
