Nothing Else Matters (Jerrie) 2018

The trial

Perrie's POV 

I'm so nervous because the trial is today. Jade is a witness on the trial, so she will tell everyone what she saw. We are on our way to the trial in the taxi. 

''I'm so nervous Jade...'' I mumble and she leans her head against my shoulder.

''It's okay... You will be fine.'' She says with an adorable baby voice.

''It's just so scary to meet him again... The last time I saw him was terrible...''

''I understand. But you will make it, okay? Just tell your side of the story. He will tell his side and I will tell my side. I'ts gonna be okay.'' she kisses my cheek and I blush. Everytime she touches me I shiver. I just wish that she could feel the same.

We get into the room. It's four tables with chairs. Three men and three women are already in the room. Alex isn't here, not Jade either. She will get into the room after we tell our sides of the story, otherwise she can just listen to one of us and come up with something. I sit down on one of the chairs and my prosecutor sits down by my side. 

''We will take him in now. Is it okay?'' the chairman says. I take a deep breath and nod. The door opens and he walks in. Alex has a white t-shirt, black jeans and black sneakers. He looks me right in the eyes, and he looks even angrier than before if it's possible. I try to keep calm and breath. He sits down with the lawyer, still looking me in the eyes.

''Okay. Today we are going to have a trial about the possible assault that happened in your apartment.'' the chariman says. I nod, and Alex is still staring at me.

''We will start with you. What happened this day?'' The chairman asks me.

I take a deep breath, I can't to this. It's so hard to say the truth. alex will do something, like I always think. I realise that i've been quiet for minutes.

''Edwards, I understand if this is hard for you, but we would appreciate if you could say something.''

''Okay, so I didn't answer on Alex's text messanges that he sended me. I was busy helping my injured friend. When I came home, Alex screamed at me, pushed me against the wall and punched me multiple times. He punched me four or five times and I passed out after that. I woke up a couple of hours later when my friend Jade knocked on the door and I told her everything. I went to the hospital a couple of days after this and I got medecine. I've got bruises and scars from the assault.'' I say with a shaky voice. I feel uncomfortable when Alex stares at me.

''Thank you. Your turn, Chamberlain. What happened?'' The chairman says.

''Okay. I'm dissapointed at Perrie for coming up with this. I have never even touched her. Perrie came home with all the bruises and scars that night. I helped her, I gave her food and I talked to her. She told me that she fell outside and got the bruises. Perrie came up with this story, and i'm heartbroken. She told her friend Jade that I assaulted her, and Jade told everyone that I did. This resulted in that I got kicked from my football team. I really loved Perrie and she was my everything. It's so hard to say this because i don't want anything bad to happen to her, but Perrie is lying.'' Alex says, pretending to whipe away a tear. 

I can't believe what I hear. What is he talking about? I felt how he hit me in the face. Why the fuck would I come up with this? I feel so frustrated and my eyes are burning. I fight back my tears and look right into Alex's eyes. She smirks at me and I feel even more frustrated.

''Okay. We will ask both of you questions about the incident soon, but we will send in Jade. She is the witness and she walked into the apartment.'' The chairman says. The door opens and Jade walks in. She sits on a chair in the middle of the room.

''Okay Jade. I want you to know that if you lie or come up with anything, it's a crime.'' The chairman explains. Jade nods and start to tell her side of the story.

''Okay. I was just home, watching TV and I started to worry about Perrie. She wasn't on her phone for more than three hours. I just felt that something bad might had happened, so I decided to go to her house. She didn't open when I knocked on the door so I opened it. I found Perrie on the floor with scars and bruises. She didn't want to say what it was at first, but at last she told me everything. Everything she said is true, we went to my house after this.''

''Thank you Jade.'' The chairman says.

I look at Jade and she looks back. We both know the truth. Alex assaulted me and he denies it. he is so disgusting. I'm glad that Jade came to me when it happened. She really saved me, she is my hero. The lawyer ask me questions and I can answer them all really well. When the prosecutor ask Alex questions, he barely answers them. His story is to weak and everyone in the room can se that he is lying.

Jade's POV

We take a break from the trial and the lawyer speak to Alex, probably telling him to stop lying. Alex continues to deny and two hours later, the judge has a judgement. 

''Chamberlain, you are convicted of abuse and you will stay in jail for one year.'' 

What? Only one year? He fucking assaulted a woman and he gets one year? I feel frustrated and I want to punch the judge in the face. I look at Perrie and she looks sad and empty. I expected at least 10 years in jail, but no. We get out from the building and we get into the taxi.

''One fucking year.'' Perrie mumbles and I stroke her hair.

''I know... It's crazy. I don't know why he only got one year.''

''Probably they didn't believe me... I was nervous, maybe they thought that I lied?''

''Babe, no...'' I cup her face and look into her eyes. I grab her hand, stroking it with my thumb. 

We get to my house, Perrie stays here until she can find a new house. I wish that she could stay with me forever, thought. Perrie goes to bed immideately, and I stay awake for a couple of hours before I lay down by Perrie's side. She mumbles and wraps her arms around my waist. I put my arms around her torso.
