Hey everyone! Thank you all again so much for the continuous support. I will forever be thankful!

I would like to dedicate this chapter to WindlordVidia because she is such a lovely person who gave me one of the nicest comments. It really made me smile and it seems that she really got into the story. Just wanted to thank her for the lovely comments and everything, so thank you haha. Hope you enjoy this chapter as much as you enjoyed the others even though it kind of sucks.

Happy reading everyone!

Chapter Ten ~ The Sudden Decision

As Eva dragged Darren out of the room and along the corridor, a whisper echoing through the hall caused her to halt not too far from the door.

“He’s not to be trusted.” The hiss was unmistakeably Pandora’s. Eva turned around, her grip still tight around Darren’s hand, but there was no one there.

“What’s wrong, Eva?” Darren lifted his arms up, forcing Eva to let go, and cupped her face with both hands. He gently lifted her head up to face him. “Are you OK?”

She blinked several times before releasing herself from him. She held his arm again and pulled him in the direction she was heading earlier.

“Just great.”

“Where are you taking me?” Although he questioned her, he didn’t struggle against her in any way. His heart was beating hard with nerves. He was unsure what she’ll do to him.

“My office.” That only caused him to gulp.

Just as they reached her office, there was something blocking the entrance or rather someone. In fact there were two. Alice was sat on the floor, snoring, her back rested on the door while Max was curled up on her lap also asleep. Eva shook her awake, careful not to disturb Max. She glared down at her. Alice blinked a few times before pushing her hair out of her face. Her eyes grew wide when she perceived the two standing in front of her. She carefully lifted max and struggled to stand up, gently resting his head on her shoulder as he stirred in his sleep.

“S-sorry, Ma’am,” she stuttered as she subconsciously rubbed Max’s back.

“What’s this?”

“Max wouldn’t sleep and kept asking for his Mum so I got him here but you weren’t there. You retired to your room early? We must have fallen asleep here because he didn’t want to go to his room,” she answered in a rush.

Just then Max woke up and rubbed his eyes. He saw Eva’s face and smiled, stretching out his hands in the indication to take him. She returned the smile to him and took Max from Alice, stroking his hair.

“Where’s Mummy?” He immediately asked. She took in his happy face and frowned. How can he still be asking for his mother? She hurt him and wasn’t treating him right and yet he wants his mother? No child deserves to be beaten, they’re so vulnerable, she thought. She couldn’t stand the idea of a vulnerable little kid being hurt or tormented by a grown adult, just the way she had been years ago.

“Why don’t I take you into my office and explain it all to you,” she smiled, answering him in her soft voice. She turned to the others and ordered in a completely different tone, “You two wait outside.”

Eva entered her office with Max and sat him on the sofa, taking a seat next to him. She smoothed down his hair.

“I like this sofa. It’s so fluffy I can die!” Max commented, standing on the sofa and jumping. Lucky he had no shoes on or she would have stopped him, but she liked the giggling sound of his voice.
