"Attack!" Markus threw his hand forward towards the barricaded street where the soldiers waited with guns. He ran, not turning back, with his army behind him and Simon beside him.

After leaving him to escape the roof of the broadcast tower, he had promised to never leave his side again.

Simon had been so alone and afraid. He had thought only of Markus and what their life would be like once they were reunited. This was the only thing that had kept him alive and determined to reach Jericho once again.

Now the pair ran side by side, guns in their hands, watching each other's backs. Markus' face was troubled. It was clear to Simon that their leader feared death as much as they did.

They got closer and closer to where the main body of soldiers was, expertly taking out the lone snipers before diving behind a barricade to avoid a storm of bullets.

Markus quickly got to work reloading his weapons, pulling used cartridges with his teeth and tossing them aside.

Simon was in awe of his actions, not noticing that he should also be reloading.

His leader turned and saw his expression, raising one eyebrow.
Flustered that he had been caught, Simon's cheeks turned a pale blue colour and he started to fumble with the gun.

Markus smiled to himself before putting a hand on the other Android's shoulder in an effort to calm him down.
"You'll need a steady hand, so take a deep breath." He advised.

Simon inhaled and exhaled. He then nodded to Markus and reloaded the gun.
"Please be careful..."

Markus looked at him out of the corner of his eye. He could tell that this Android really cared about him and would do anything to ensure his safety.
He turned around and looked the blond haired Android dead in the eye.

"I will do what I have to. But I cannot let you die," Markus admitted.

He held out his hand to the frightened Android and their fingers interlocked. Their skin disappeared to leave their white hands exposed.

Simon leant forward into him, resting his head on the other Android's shoulder before quickly getting back into position to forward the attack.

"On my signal." Markus prepared his followers, gun steady in his hand.

"Charge!"

They took out hundreds of guards and soldiers, quickly progressing forward until a machine gun took out the majority of the front line.

Simon collapsed to the floor, clutching his core and blinking hard. His shut down was imminent.

Markus threw himself over the other Android as a protective shield before pulling him behind a barricade for safety.

"Simon! No!" He grabbed the sides of his face, looking him in the eye.
"I said nothing would happen to you..."

"Markus..." he whispered. "Save our people..."

"Simon I'm not letting you die. Come on, please, stay with me," Markus pleaded with tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"The cause is more important than my life!" Simon insisted, pushing Markus away.

"No Simon," he held the other Android's cheeks in his palms, "I'm in love with you..."

Simon chuckled weakly, causing Markus to frown.

"That's funny," he started, tears now running delicately down his cheeks.
"Because I'm in love with you too..."

Simon's eyes began to close and open frantically.

"Simon. Simon! Can you hear me?" Markus shook his shoulders panicking. He needed to replace the thirium regulator.

The leader stood up and scanned the mass of androids on the floor, looking for a compatible bio-component.

He identified one on a deceased Android on the other side of the road.
"Hang in there, Simon."
He kissed the other Android on his forehead before jumping up and running toward the compatible part.

Markus leapt over barricades, dodged bullets and took out soldiers to get to the part he needed.

He felt no guilt in tearing out the vital bio-component, looking it over in his hand, before making his way back to Simon.

The other Android lay still on the ground. Markus picked him up in his arms, cradling his head. He examined his LED and found that there was still a few seconds before permanent shutdown.

Markus pulled out the faulty bio-component and replaced it with the one he had taken.

"Simon?" Markus stared into the face of the blond Android.
"Please..." he whispered.

Simon's eyes slowly opened. The first thing he saw was Markus' relieved face.

"I told you to go on without me..." Simon smiled.

"I couldn't just leave you here." Markus brushed the blond hair from his eyes, bringing his face closer.

"Thank you, Markus."

The two shared a gentle kiss despite the chaos around them. Eventually, Markus pulled away.

"Now. Let's win this battle- together."

Simon nodded and got to his feet, running alongside Markus to their destiny.
