I started grabbing stuff, throwing things in my bag that might come to some use. 3:14. Looking around one last time I found the last few items I would need and threw them into my bag. So long, I guess. She haunted my every thought and staying in this, this place she created. A safe haven. She was a true monster, terror seeped from her skin almost like poison. Pushing my way through the door I saw it. The black chain hung from the nail in my wall. Why Blaise, you wouldn't forget the last thing you have of me would you? "Get out of my head! You aren't real." I threw my stuff down and ripped the chain from the wall, "Happy! Are you happy?" Putting it over my head I tensed at the familiar touch of cold metal. Grabbing my things I pushed my way through the door, ignoring all my thoughts. The Jeep was sitting there and I knew that's what they wanted. They'd be looking for it, I had to get rid of it. Grunting I threw everything into the vehicle and drove.

6:30 blinked on the clock has I pulled into a dealer, I didn't recognize the place but it was all I could find. Three hours away from "home", I knew I couldn't turn back. She would want that, want me to crumble under myself and crawl back. Fuck her, fuck them. I will never crawl back to anyone, anything.
Two hours later I sat behind the wheel of a 1997 Fiat Punto, they would never think it was me, not if they couldn't see me. The blue paint was chipped, revealing the rusty truth. The man laughed when I said that's what I wanted but look at the Jeep and he was sold. I drove down a backroad hoping this thing would fall apart if the right gust of wind hit it. Pulling up to what appeared to be a convenient store I quickly walked inside, head low they could be anywhere. Grabbing a few essential things I headed towards the register. When I finally tilted my head up I saw no one was there, distant voices traveled down a hall behind the counter. Without thinking I found more items that might be useful and bolted out the jumping in the car and taking off before anyone came back. Had anyone been there when I came in? I couldn't recall hearing a voice then or even sensing a presence. Shaking my head I dropped the thought. "They had it coming right? I could've done worse." I looked back before focusing on the road, my voice filled the silence of the car.
Hours later I saw the sign, "Welcome to Vermont. The Green Mountain State." Slowing down I pulled over and pushing hands against my skull, You aren't far enough. Blaise, they're going to find you. Screaming, I smashed my hands against my legs and took off. How far was far enough? How many states? How many times will I have to think they're following me?
What felt like years had passed as I drove through Missouri , looking for somewhere to go I saw a motel sign not far from ahead. I'd been on the road for almost a full day. The sleep was grabbing at my eyes had a full appetite and it looks like I'm on the plate. Hopefully, someone will be up, someone had to right? Wouldn't want to miss a potential customer. Pulling in I noticed lights were on it what looked like something that could pass as a front desk. Walking in I noticed coffee stained boxes along the walls, rusted fold up chairs stood next to them. As I approached the front "desk" a man lifted his head up, "She ain't a pretty sight and here but room are better. How can I help you?"
"I need your cheapest room."
"Single, queen good?"
"Yeah, that'll do."
"Top floor, 14B. $60 I night."
I nodded and pulled out $60 and handed him it waiting for him to give me the key I took another look around. Exactly how much better were the rooms? "Here ya go son." Turning back I nodded my head and took the key, walking up to the stairs and finding the room. The place seem almost completely vacant. Pushing open the door I took in the room. A queen size bed stood in the middle of the room, a mahogany frame that looked as though it'd seen it's year before I was born held it in place. Mustard sheets covered the bed with white pillows. Navy blue walls covered the area, the paint was peeling and was far best due of a new coat. A small radio stood atop the dresser. Falling back on the mattress I closed my eyes, sighing I muttered to no one but the ghosts of previous sins, "It's going to be a long night."
