Jenny paced her home nervously the next day, as she waited for Sandra Bexit to bring Sky. After informing the Ministry of her intentions to adopt Sky, they had agreed to bring her over, so that Jenny and Charlie could meet the baby girl.
Adopting Sky, wasn't set in stone. Everything hinged on the success of the first meeting. If they didn't bond, then Sky would be taken away.
"Please calm down Jen" begged Charlie, who was sitting on a step, near the bottom of the Grand staircase.
"What if the baby doesn't like us Charlie? Or what if she does, but Sandra doesn't want us to have her?" Questioned Jenny, anxiously.
Charlie stood up and approached Jenny, resting his hands on her shoulders.
"Everything is going to be fine. Getting yourself all worked up, isn't good for anyone".Jenny nodded, and began taking deep breaths, to try and steady her nerves.
The Ministry must have been functioning well, under Kingsley's leadership, for Sandra and Sky arrived exactly on time.
Jenny opened the front door, and tried to look more welcoming, than the first time the pair had met.
"Sandra, how wonderful to see you" she announced, with a false smile.
"Thank you Miss Potter. It's a pleasure to be back here. Ah, you must be Mr Weasley" replied Sandra, diverting her attention to Charlie.
Jenny shut the door, and led the way into the lounge, trying to get a better look at the baby sleeping in Sandra's left arm."I hope you didn't have a long journey" said Charlie politely, as they all took their places on the sofa.
"It wasn't too long thank you. I would have preferred to apparate, but the Ministry told me I couldn't with the child" replied Sandra.
"Is apparating with children dangerous?" Quizzed Jenny.
"Not necessarily. But apparating can make any first timer sick, so the Ministry advises against apparating with young children. Parents can do as they like, but seeing as the child isn't mine. I was instructed not to apparate, so I took a muggle taxi" Sandra answered.Jenny was trying to be polite and look at Sandra as she spoke, but she kept trying to look at Sky, who's face was hidden, as she rested on Sandra's shoulder.
"Now, that's enough small talk for now. It's time for you to meet Sky" continued Sandra.
Jenny smiled as Sandra brought Sky down from her shoulder and handed her over to Jenny.
Charlie knelt down from the sofa, and shuffled over to Jenny and the baby, to get a closer look. Jenny held the child tightly in her arms, as she absorbed her beauty.
She looked around the same age as Teddy, possibly a few weeks older. Her eyes were blue like Jenny's, and she had dirty blonde hair. Which was very different to Charlie's red hair, and Jenny's dark black hair.Jenny lightly touched Sky's nose, and the baby girl giggled. Charlie smiled and kissed Jenny's head, and then Sky's small fingers.
"She's perfect" muttered Jenny.
Sandra smiled. "I take it you like her?".
Jenny looked to Charlie, who nodded.
"Yes. We would love to keep her" replied Jenny.
"Good. I shall head back to the Ministry, and inform them of your decision. I shall then be back, first thing tomorrow, to hand her over to you permanently" explained Sandra.
Jenny pulled Sky closer to her chest. "You're taking her so soon?".
"Well, you can hold her for a few more minutes, then I had better be off. It is very late, and I need to get going. I won't be taking her away forever. When I return tomorrow, Sky will be a part of your family. And I will never take her away from you again" replied Sandra.Rather reluctantly, Jenny handed Sky back to Sandra, who stood up and prepared to leave.
"Right. I'll bring the paper work for you two to sign, when I come back tomorrow. But until then, I wish you a good night" concluded Sandra.
"Thank you for coming" replied Charlie, as he showed her to the door.
Once she had left, Charlie hugged Jenny tight, and they cried tears of joy onto each others shoulders.
"I can't believe it. We are going to be parents tomorrow" croaked Jenny.
"Yes, we are. And we are going to do a wonderful job" insisted Charlie.
Jenny kissed his lips softly and smiled. "I hope you are right".
"I am" reassured Charlie.
"Well then, it looks like we have a new member of our family. Little Sky Potter" announced Jenny happily.
