A few days before Christmas, Jenny was searching the shops for a wedding present to give to Charlie. They were due to get married on Decemeber the 28th, and she still didn't have anything to give him.
She had already had to find a birthday present for him, as his birthday had been on the 12th. Then she had to get him a Christmas present, so when it came to finding something else for the wedding, she was out of ideas.
Jenny had already achusted all the shops in Diagon Alley, so she had gone to Hogsmeade, in hopes of finding something. There weren't that many proper shops in the town, but Jenny hoped that she would find something in Dervish and Banges. As they repaired and sold magical items, so she thought she might find Charlie, a nice antique.

As Jenny entered the shop, she was greeted by an elderly gentleman.
"Hello there miss. How can I help?" He asked.
Jenny smiled back and looked at his nametag, which read Mr Thomas Dervish.
"I was looking for a wedding present for my fiancè" explained Jenny.
Mr Dervish came out from behind his counter, and began directing Jenny, to a section of the shop.
"Here we have several items, that are great for loved ones. But feel free to explore the rest of the shop if you want to" said Mr Dervish enthusiastically.
"Thank you" Jenny replied, as she began to look at some of the items on sale.

Jenny's eyes were immideatley drawn to a silver pendent, with a large heart charm on it. Picking it up with one hand, Jenny began to admire the necklace.
When Mr Dervish saw what Jenny was interested in, he began to hobble back over to her.
"It's beautiful, isn't it? It was only brought in a couple of days ago jn fact, by a wealthy gentleman who had no use for it anymore" he revealed.
"It is very pretty. There must be some sort of magic around it, that is drawing me to it, because I love it" replied Jenny.
"There is magic around it, but I haven't been able to test out all it's capabilities myself, as I have been very busy recently"
"It has magic powers?"
"In a way. The man who sold it to me, said that it has a powerful memory charm around it".

"How does it work?" Questioned Jenny curiously.
"I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't used it myself. But I have heard of objects like this before, and I believe that you wear the item, in this case a necklace, around your neck. And the charm enables you to re-live past memories that you may have forgotten" explained Mr Dervish.
Jenny's eyes gleamed hungrily. "It helps you remember things so have forgotten?".
"In a way. My research suggests that you take the necklace to a place where you have a lot of memories. Like a childhood home for example. Then you put the necklace on, and you remember things that happened years ago, as if they are happening right then and there".

"So it enables you to experience memories from when you were younger?" Quizzed Jenny.
Mr Dervish nodded. "That is the theory. Much more useful for someone of my age, than a young thing like you. Your memory is still young and fresh".
Jenny pulled the pendent closer to her, refusing to let it go.
"How much is it?" She asked, not thinking of Charlie, but herself.
"10 galleons. It's pure silver, so it costs a lot" answered Mr Dervish.
Jenny plunged her hand into her pocket, and payed for the necklace, as if the money meant nothing to her. Coming from a wealthy family, meant that she never had to worry about how much things cost.

"Do you want me to wrap it up for you?" Asked Mr Dervish.
Jenny shook her head, and dropped it into her pocket.
"Good idea. I wouldn't advise wearing it around town, if you have too many memories here, you won't be able to focus on walking" he continued.
"Thanks for the warning" replied Jenny, as she began to head towards the door.
Mr Dervish waved her goodbye, and walked over to his counter, to put the money away.

With her mind on the necklace in her pocket, Jenny couldn't focus on the real reason she came to Hogsmeade. On her way home, she stopped at Scrivenshaft's quill shop, to get Charlie a quill with red emeralds on it, forming a W, for Weasley.
She had wanted to get him something more special, but she just wanted to go somewhere, and try out her new magical object. As Jenny could remember her time spent with Charlie very well, she didn't want to try it out in her cottage.
But she didn't want to try it out at the Potter Manor either, as she had years worth of memories in there, and didn't want to get overwhelmed.

After hiding Charlie's present in the cottage at Hogsmeade, and leaving a note explaining where she was headed, Jenny dissapparated and turned up in Godric's Hollow opposite the Potter house. Where her brother had died, all those years ago.
She took a deep breath, and stepped into the broken building, placing the necklace over her head as she stepped inside.
