Chapter 1

It was a beautiful day in Le Havre, France, not a cloud in the sky. Ashleigh Cameron Lyeh had just woken up from a good night's rest and could already smell her mother's homemade bacon. She went over to the window and opened the blinds that revealed a door and a platform. As she opened the doors, she could feel the fresh morning wind.

"Ashleigh, l'heure du petit déjeuner!" Mrs. Lyeh called.

"Venez maman!" Ashleigh called as she closed the doors and went down to the kitchen.

The smell of fresh made bacon, eggs, and toast filled the air.

"Maman, ça sent bon!" Mrs. Lyeh got a smile on her face as she handed her daughter the plate.

"Ton père est déjà parti au travail. J'aurai aussi besoin de toi pour aller faire ta valise après avoir mangé, nous faisons un voyage." Ashleigh's mother explained with a smile as her daughter nodded.

As soon as Ashleigh finished eating she hurried upstairs and started packing her clothes, toys, and everything else she would need. As she was taking everything down to the main entrance, she heard a knock at the door.

"Ashleigh! Je vous ai entendu bouger, qu'est-ce que je vais faire sans vous?" her best friend, Kat says as Ashleigh answers the door.

"En mouvement? Maman a dit que nous allions en voyage!" Ashleigh was surprised at this news and invited her friend in. The two girls headed upstairs and played until lunch time.

"Oh, Kat, when did you get here?" Mrs. Lyeh asks as she brings up a snack for Ashleigh.

"I got here about thirty minutes ago, I thought Ashleigh told you?" Kat explains while Ashleigh looks at her mother and friend not understanding what they're saying.

"Oh, okay. Could you also teach her some more English while you're here?" Mrs. Lyeh asks.

"Sure!" Kat gives a smile as she turns to Ashleigh and gets her English book.

After a long day of working on her English skills, Kat and Ashleigh had dinner then Kat went home and Ashleigh went up to her room with her dad to get everything put up then take everything downstairs to the moving truck.

"Dad, how will everything get to Canada?" Ashleigh asked walking back in with her dad.

"It will be shipped over airways." he explained as they make sure everything is out and in the truck.

"Is everything in the truck?" Mrs. Lyeh asked coming from downstairs with her final suitcase.

"Yes, so now we can head to the airport." Mr. Lyeh replied grabbing the suitcase.
