Millie's POV

I felt my phone buzz and looked down to see a text from Finn and I smiled.

Finn: Hey

Millie: Hey :)

Finn: So I was thinking...

Millie: Finn you know we can't

Finn: But what if we made it secretive? So Nick didn't have to know

Millie: idk Finn... We don't even know what my mom will say...

Finn: Well that's why we should go out and see what they say. Maybe Nick will warm up to you. Plus we don't even know your mom's thoughts on you dating since you haven't even really had a crush for a while and she seems to not really think of it

Millie: Fine. Just not today. I'm worried

Finn: okay... :(

I put my phone down and looked out my window. In the window across from me I can see Finn looking upset, pulling out his guitar and beginning to strum.

I feel really bad for turning Finn down because we both really like each other, I just don't wanna risk Finn getting hurt. Nick hasn't always been the most gentle brother; after all I have known him for the past 8 years...

Finn's POV

I don't know what to do. I like Millie so much and I really want to date her. She is right though, we don't know what Nick might do if we started dating. He never even liked it when we were just friends. I guess that's what we are going to have to be for a while...

I decide to go talk to Nick. So I walk to his room and knock on the door.

"What do you want rat?" Nick responded harshly.

"Woah, what's wrong? I just came to ask you a question!" I said.

"Joanna just broke up with me over text and I'm a bit pissed about it." Nick said. You could see a tear come to his eye. Joanna was Nick's girlfriend for 2 years. Everything was going really well until like last week when Nick found out Joanna was cheating. I thought they worked it all out, but I guess not.

"Maybe now isn't a good time to ask..." I said a bit upset, but understanding that he was going through a hard time.

"No, it's fine. What's up?"

"Well..." I responded. That's when I decided to ask Nick about dating Millie. And it did not go well..

Millie's POV

I look over to Nick's room and I see Finn talking to him and all I can think of is that he's asking Nick. After a few seconds of watching them I realized that that was definitely what they were talking about because I started to see Nick yell.

I want to go stop it, but I know I wouldn't do anything but make it worse. Finn saw me watching and he knew what I was thinking. I could tell he was telling me not to come, so I didn't. I just had to sit there, watching Finn get yelled at.

After about 5 minutes, Nick slammed the door on Finn's face. I saw Finn enter his room crying. I felt so bad that I couldn't hold back, so I texted him.

Millie: Finn

Finn: Yeah

Millie: Do you wanna go out with me?

Finn: WHAT

Finn looks through his window at you with a shocked face

Millie: I saw you talking with Nick, that just showed me how badly you want to date me and it made me realize how badly I want to date you too.

Finn: Of course I want to go out with you Millie, but you were so set on not doing it because of Nick, and after that I'm starting to agree with you...

Millie: I know, but if we sneak out our windows tonight and go to the treehouse when he and my mom are asleep, they won't know.

Finn: I don't know Mills

Millie: Please Finn
