Something we won't forget

I was falling for her. I was falling in love with her and I couldn't stop it. Her soft and red lips curled into the most beautiful smile in the world. Her big and deep eyes were sparkling as she was staring into mine. Her lips were slightly parted, I could feel her warm breath really close to my face, hear how fast she was breathing; I could see her cheeks go from white to pink, and from pink to white. I could see a million things and feel a billion things just by hearing the beautiful melody of her voice.

I found love in her. I know what love is because of her. I understood the meaning of the word "love".

I had already given up on love. Every time I tried, I ended up with a broken heart. It was not easy for me to confess my feelings; I always had that problem. I can't explain why but I guess it just wasn't for me. Or so I thought...

It was enough for me having my friends. All of them were nice and we took care of everyone without conditions. They made my life easier. But what really made the difference was her, my beautiful best friend. She showed me many things about life that I didn't know or I didn't want to see. She smiled even in the worst times; she was able to see a rainbow in the middle of a storm; and she stayed with me even in my worst times, when no one would have done it.

We spent so much time together, time was never enough when I was with her. The days were short and night were long.

She knew everything about me and loved every flaw I had. She didn't judge me and never stopped saying how perfect I was. If I normally blushed easily, with her it was a nightmare, my cheeks always hurt because of how much I smiled.
I knew everything about her, I saw her cry and suffer from a heart broken many times. I never understood how someone could treat her that bad when she was only love, when she committed herself to the relationship and gave her all. It made me so angry to hear how much she suffered because of other boys; to be honest... nothing could upset me more.

"I'm running out of patience"...

The sun was going down. The yellow light was shining on her face, making her look more angelical than ever. I felt the need to kiss her right there, in the middle of her kitchen after having a food war. My heart was racing and for what I could see on her face, her heart was beating fast too. Slowly I got close to her, stroking one of her cheeks and getting drunk with the brightness of her eyes. I tilted my head to the right as we both closed our eyes while our lips met.

The sun disappeared and the night invaded her house. The starry sky above the city watched us as we kissed slowly with all the love of the universe. I felt my body tremble with her scent, our hands were intertwined and all the noises of the world seemed to have disappeared. My lips quivered as our lips separated. We looked into each other eyes once again and didn't say anything for some minutes.

There was not much to say, the kiss said it all. We felt the same way for each other and we couldn't hide it anymore. We couldn't pretend it didn't happen. I was scared of things changing between us. But she hugged me, resting her hand on the back of my head, stroking my hair, reassuring me with her touch that nothing would ever change. We were two best friends and things didn't have to grow awkward between us.

So I decided to risk it. To try and make her mine for once and for all. I grabbed her waist as I pulled her closer to me, resting my head on her shoulder. I could feel how much she had been waiting this. I could feel how she finally felt safe in my arms. This was exactly what the both of us had been looking all our lives.

I kisses her neck sweetly and whispered as my breath made her skin shiver. "Y/N... I love you and I want you to be my girl. I want you to be mine forever. I don't know how this started but I don't want to lose it. Will you be able to love me with time the same way I love you?"

She didn't have to say anything. She just didn't let go of me. I don't know how much time passed, but we stood there in her kitchen until our legs got tired and our arms felt numb for hugging so tightly. We kissed one last time before I had to head back. She showed me what magic really felt like and that true love does exist. I didn't understand it back then, but we both knew we were meant to be together.
