Why do I always watch from the distance? Kyungsoo thought as he observed you. Why can't I even do something? Why am I so scared? Sometimes you caught him watching you from afar but why? You didn't know. His glance wasn't really soft, sometimes it did look like it but the moment he would realise you were staring back, his glare would turn back to the cold one everyone knew.
Anyone in your position would probably think it was quite obvious but with him you were never sure. The truth was, you never really talked to him, didn't really know him, so to say he liked you was something you couldn't know for sure.
"You should talk to her Kyungsoo!" Baekhyun said for the millionth time that week. "If not, you are just going to scare her away... maybe she already thinks you are a freak" "I know..." He sighed, looking really down. "Hey I was only joking, you are adorable!" Kyungsoo rolled his eyes and Baekhyun ran as fast as he could before he received one of the infamous Kyungsoo's playful punches. "But really, talk to her" "What if she doesn't like me?" That thought had been haunting him for months. "I doubt it, you should be worrying more about someone snatching her away from you" "What?!" For a moment it looked like he had never thought of it. "Ah c'mon! she's beautiful and for what I've heard she is very kind too. Girlfriend goals to be short. Of course others are going to be after her. But being honest with you, I think she has a thing for you" Baekhyun winked. "Stop joking Baekhyun!" "Hey! Don't get mad! I'm just telling you the truth. Just think about it okay?"
It was hard for him though, to even think you could like him. Kyungsoo was very handsome and talented, a smol soft ball of fur, definitely boyfriend material but he didn't think like that of himself. The idea that he would never be enough for you, worthy of you, kept him awake at night.
The truth was he would probably say nothing, he'd live in the "what if" if it wasn't because you decided to take the first step.
"Hello Oppa~" You sat next to him, the shocked look on his face was priceless. "H-hey Y/N..." You could see his hands tremble as he tried to calm down, playing with his thumbs. It made you smile. "I'm sorry if this is a little blunt but... I couldn't help to notice you staring at me for a while now.." He probably felt like a bucket of cold water fell on him. "I... I'm sorry if that disturb-" "No no it's okay" You smiled. "The truth is... I've been watching you too..." That surely took him by surprise. Kyungsoo rose his head slowly and turned to you. He looked into your eyes, trying to read them, probably thinking of the many scenarios that could come from this and trying to find a way to not ruin it. You smiled again, this time blushing a little. His eyes were beautiful but intimidating. He smiled too.
The two of you stayed quiet for a while, just staring at each other, looking deeply into your eyes. For a moment the outside world seemed irrelevant, the noises seemed to disappeared and only you and him seemed to exist. You felt how the temperature started to rise, or maybe it was just you; how you palms were a little sweaty and your cheeks felt like burning. He felt how his heart started to race and there was no way to calm it down; he felt the world around him spinning and yet all he could think of was the beautiful pair of eyes staring back at him.
"Is this how love feels like?" Kyungsoo broke the silence. "Is this what they call love?"
He clearly didn't stop for a minute to think what was coming out of his mouth, or he wouldn't have said it in the first place.
"It took you long enough to realise? You clearly kept me waiting" Your words took him by surprise, he clearly wasn't expecting that. "I like you Kyungsoo" you finally dared to say out loud. "I like you a lot and I know you like me" You bit your lower lip after realising what you had just said. But instead of looking shocked, this time Kyungsoo smiled and placed his hand on your cheek, carefully stroking it with you finger.
"I'm not going to lie" He began. "I never imagined this to happen but if it did, I always thought it would be like this" Inside that cold and hard shell he had, he was a romantic. And that's exactly what you liked about him, he could look like many things, but the real boy, was the purest one. "Thank you for taking the first step Y/N... thank you for helping me here" You smiled and poked his chest, right where his heart is. "Isn't that what love is about?" He laughed shyly, taking you off guard as he pulled you into a tight embrace. "I don't know Y/N. Tell me, what is love?"
