"Ⓙeon Jungkook!"
Jungkook snapped his head up and met eyes with the professor who was glaring in his direction. This is the second day in a row I've caught you sleeping during my lectures!" Mrs Yong barked at him. "Do you find my teaching boring?"
Students around him started snickering as the male tried to hide his red cheeks with his sleeves. "N - No Professor," he stuttered embarrassed, "I'm really sorry. It won't happen again."
The professor scoffed as she continued the lecture, though Jungkook noticed her gaze always went back to him to check if he was still following.
"What's up with you?" Oh Sehun, who sat in front of him (also a friend of his douchy roommate), laughed at him.
"Like you care," he muttered back as he rested his head on his hand, trying to stay awake through the rest of the last lecture he had for today. At least it was Friday, and that meant the weekend in just half an hour away.
"You okay Jungkook?" he heard a sweet voice from behind him. When he turned his head, his eyes met with the same hazel eyes that he met when he first started college.
"Jihyo?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," he forced out a smile.
She smiled back.
Jungkook felt a bit guilty. Ever since he first asked the girl to hang out after a lecture, he completely bailed on her that day and they never spoke ever since. He believed she was angry with him, but she didn't seem to be anymore. Maybe she'll even ask him what exactly happened that day.
The lecture ended before Jungkook could drowse off and shoved his books and laptop into his backpack and was about to exit until he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Jungkook, hey, can we talk?" she asked.
He was a bit surprised, but he nodded and followed her through the hallways.
"So, I might've seemed like the biggest bitch to since two years ago, but I don't know if you noticed I just recently got back to school."
Now Jungkook felt like a bigger douche. He hadn't even noticed. "Uhm..."
"I didn't expect you to have noticed," she smiled reassuringly, "but I've been sick so that's why I was absent, and I was lucky enough to be taught whilst I was at the hospital and I could return back here just a few weeks ago. I hesitated to approach you again as you didn't look at me once, but I sincerely want to apologise for leaving so suddenly without explaining anything to you. I hope you weren't hurt."
Jungkook was utterly confused. "Wait, you left that day?" he asked as he frowned. "I didn't return until later because I shoved the door on my roommate's face and had to guide him to the school nurse. When I returned, you were gone and I thought you were angry with me for taking so long."
Jihyo's eyes widened by his explanation. "Oh," she mumbled. They both avoided each other's gazes before she spoke up again. "Uhm, so I guess we both left, huh?"
Jungkook nodded guiltily again. "Sorry. I did return, but you were gone. And I had to help him, you know?"
She smiled. "I get it. Wasn't your roommate Kim Taehyung? Didn't he study abroad?"
"Yeah, he left two years ago. He's about to return," he explained simply.
"I guess you won't be too happy about his return then?" she chuckled.
