After only three short seconds at her aunt's home, Mystic was hounded with the usual questions. "Do you have a boyfriend yet?" and other meaningless questions followed, "Do you plan on going to college?" and "When are you going to get married and have kids?"
Mystic's aunt Janice was bugging Mystic again, as always, so she took out her earbuds from her jacket pocket and wrapped them around her neck; then she decided to go out and explore the new town she had just moved to.
"Where do you think you're going?" Janice yelled as she spotted Mystic walking out the door for the second time.
"If I don't get out of here soon, I am going to punch somebody," she muttered, grunting with the effort of pulling her converse on.
Turning red in the face, Janice said, "Well, you better be back in half an hour young lady."
After Mystic pulled the door shut as she headed out of the house, she shrugged her shoulders in annoyance.
After plugging her earbuds into the audio jack in her phone, Mystic scrolled through her playlists until she arrived at her playlist titled Escape the Sleeping Brides Falling. After she pressed the shuffle button, Falling in Reverse's Losing My Mind started to play.
Ronnie's voice, resonating through her earbuds, makes her feel her adrenaline begin to pump. Struck so deeply by the beat that she starts mumbling the lyrics as she heads down the street, blending in with the crowds.
The aroma of freshly cut grass gently floated throughout the air permeating a very mellow yet calming atmosphere as the streets were filled with groups of cars, moving at a brisk pace, racing off to their destination or any other daily task one could find themselves doing on a Tuesday afternoon. As Mystic eyed the nearby park, she decided that she'd walk its path while contemplating everything she would need to do in order to be prepared to go to her new school the next day.
Glancing casually around the park, Mystic smiled as she noticed a playground full of mothers running back and forth after their children, some of the older children squealing with glee-filled mirth as they ran faster and faster to last longer than their overwhelmed mothers. Chuckling softly to herself, Mystic is glad that she hasn't had a boyfriend in the last five years. She barely knows what she wants to do with her life, and adding a child would just complicate things more. That's why she is glad that she didn't have a boyfriend.
Even though she was alone, she was content.
