A buzzing phone woke up the sleeping, yellow-green inkling. As tired as he was, Rider grabbed his phone off of the nightstand with a groan. He opened his right eye to see which mindless jerk had interrupted his sleep. A phone number popped up with a short message written in a blue text box.
Goggles: Hello! It's Goggles :)
That text was just enough of an explanation. Who else but his cheerful friend would be talking to him this early? Although he tended to sleep in, Rider thought it wouldn't do him any harm being up a little earlier today.
Rider: Any reason to why you're texting me this early?
Goggles: It's not THAT early, I just wanted to train with you again today!
Now that all his questions were answered, he just had to come up with a proper response.
Rider: Fine. If you really want to, meet me at Moray Towers again today at noon.
Goggles: Yay! See you there c:
Since that was out of the way, Rider could go back to sleep for at least another hour. He pulled all the covers over him and lied down, his body sprawled on the mattress. It only took a couple of minutes until he had dozed off.
. . .
The inkling's body stretched as he started getting out of bed. His eyelids still felt heavy, but he got up nonetheless. He made his way into his kitchen to prepare himself a cup of coffee. Out of the cabinets, he pulled out a mug, a spoon, and fresh coffee beans. Rider took the coffee beans, placed them into the grinder, and left them there as he got a cup of water. The last step he needed was to put everything into the coffee maker. The brewing process took place as soon as he pressed the button. A distant buzz from his phone caught his attention.
Goggles: I hope you're up now, sleepy head.
Rider: Shut up.
Goggles: >:)
He sighed and left his phone on the counter.
Since his coffee was still brewing, he tried to decide on what to eat for breakfast. His problem was solved as soon as he spotted a McDonald's paper bag on the counter. Inside of it was a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and two hash browns. It looked like a good enough breakfast, so Rider took the food out and heated it in the microwave. Luckily, he had great timing, and his coffee was ready to drink. He took out an open can of milk and poured some into his mug with the coffee. Rider put it up to his lips, tilted it towards him, and drank. It had the usual strong taste which really woke him up.
The microwave beeped soon afterwards. He got up and put his breakfast on the table and took a sizable bite of his biscuit. Then another sip of coffee. He munched on a hash brown. Eventually, there was nothing but crumbs and an empty cup left on the table. He left them in the sink to go wash them later.
Rider was now back in his room and beginning to get dressed. He pulled out the first shirt he saw, a red one, out of his closet, and put it on. Next, he grabbed his pair of octoling boots and went to go leave them at the door. All the way to the right of the closet was his favorite jacket, the black inky rider, which he put on. He was nearly done getting ready and proceeded to go to the bathroom.
There was a little under an hour left until Rider had to be there. His teeth were perfectly brushed, his fake contacts were in, and his tentacles were tied up. He made the decision to text Goggles while he waited.
Rider: Don't tell me you aren't getting ready yet...
Goggles: I AM! Last time I was late but I won't be today! I promise.
Rider: Tch.
The yellow-green inkling came to the conclusion that it was time to leave. Heading for the closet door, he stretched his hand to turn the doorknob, opened the door, and quickly found the noticeable case for his gold dynamo roller. To other squids, it was quite the heavy weapon. But Rider knew how to handle and carry it after having it as his main weapon for so long. He slid his feet into his octoling boots and tried his best to make the shoelaces look even. Then he placed his keys and phone into his pockets, zipped them closed, and made his way out the door.
. . .
11:20 a.m. The train should be here any minute, thought Rider. He had a tendency to be on time, which is a good thing. Sounds echoed from the dark tunnel, and from within it came out a dull silver train. The doors automatically opened, and the green squid stepped in. There just happened to be a nearby seat, so he sat down, which let him take a break from carrying his heavy roller. Not many people were on this part of the train. A couple of jellyfish of different sizes, some light blue and yellow inklings, and a pink inkling with an odd hairstyle were the only others in his sight. He pulled his phone out from his pocket.
Rider: I'm on my way. You ready?
Goggles: Yeah! Of course!
While Rider was patiently waiting in his window seat to arrive, station after station, Goggles was just getting on the same train (though, he didn't know that). He lived closer to Inkopolis Plaza than Rider. There were only a few stations left until the two would get there. The blue inkling took a seat and went on his phone.
Goggles: You take the train too, right?
Rider: Mhm.
Goggles: Which train are you on?
Rider: I-392
This gave Goggles a great idea.
He went through the different train isles until he saw a familiar dark-skinned, green figure. "Hellooo~!"
Rider looked up from his phone. He rolled his eyes back and exhaled. "So you're a stalker now?" he asked jokingly.
"I'M NOT A STALKER!" Goggles began, "I just wanted to see you."
"Mhm." The blue squid, to him, could be so silly at times. It was pretty amusing. The train was coming to the final stop: Inkopolis Plaza. Rider began to get up, carrying his roller on his back. The track began to get a bit bumpy, and he almost fell back but was pulled back onto his feet by none other than Goggles.
"Woah, careful!"
"I didn't need your help, but thanks." It was an obvious lie, but the truth was much more embarrassing, taking in the fact that he always carries the heavy-weight gold dynamo roller. He noticed Goggles was still holding on to his hand. "You can let go now..."
"Oh! I forgot!" Goggles replied.
As they arrived at the station, Rider couldn't seem to get that insignificant little moment off his head.

[Author's note: Rider is allowed to drink water in his coffee because the inklings don't dissolve in water in the manga.]
