"How are you, Maya?"

"I'm good, E."

"Ready to come home?"

"I am home," I say calmly as I held my phone stirring the pot of ramen noodles. I watch as they breaking apart, softening, changing into a lighter yellow.

"We both really know that's not true." I feel him smirking through the phone.

He's right, but I need time to think. Think about me, mainly us.

"Stop fighting me and come home." He says effortlessly selfish.

"I can't do this right now, E," I say as walk away from the stove. My ramen noodles getting soggy by the second.

"Don't make me come down there and drag you down from you-"

I quickly hung up as I pushed the hair out of my face. I slid down the wall breaking down again.

"I can't have my shit together for 5 fucking seconds." I grip my hair and sob. I hear the pot bubble from outside my small kitchen.

I quickly get up and turn off the stove. "Shit! My last pack." I groan. I walk out of the kitchen groaning to go put on some sweatpants.

I grab my car keys and leave out my door, scratching my hair.

I grab a shopping cart as I go down the frozen food aisle. I grab a couple of frozen pizzas and pizza rolls. My phone vibrates in my pocket, but I keep walking.

I know it's Erik, he hates when I hang up on him. Unless he says I can hang up. I turn down the next aisle over to see Ramen Noodles.

I hear the same deep, heartless voice that was on the phone. I quickly moved to the next aisle too scared to face him.

"I've missed you, Maya." His voice taunting in every way possible. He walks closer, making me stop in my tracks. "How have you've been?"

He traced the back of my neck as he moved my hair to the side. "Don't touch me." I quivered at his touch. His evil, wicked touch. He chuckled softly, turning me around.

Why was he so gentle? Why the sudden affection? I looked up at him as he put a piece of my hair behind my hair. "I don't think that's what you really want, princess."

He paused, licking his lips. "Is it?" He was saying everything I was thinking. "It isn't," I say trying not to break down.

"But, we're toxic below the surface." I grab his hand and kiss it. "You know it, I know it, everyone knows it."

"I wish it wasn't true, E." I look up at him as I let go of his hand. "Because I love you with all my heart."

Erik rolls his eyes and places his hands on the side of my face. "Bye, Erik," I say turning around grabbing the basket again.
