Dad tried pulling the door open, but it was locked. "Mads unlock the door." Mads looked at me. In a small voice I said, "Mads, I think he manipulated Mom to make you show him where I am." I was scared, and Mads could see that. Mom looked at Mads, and mouthed two words. "Go now."
I looked out the window. Dad was staring at me. "EM!! Don't look directly at his eyes." She was too late, I was looking at Dad's eyes. He mouthed the words, "Unlock and open the door." I moved towards the door slowly, looking like a zombie. I then smiled and said no. He was so startled, and I was laughing so hard. "Mads, can we save Mom?" Mads looked at Mom. She was standing with drooping shoulders by Dad, and almost looked more like a moon, than a sun.
Dad then grabbed something sharp out of his pocket, and put it against Mom's neck while holding her hand behind her back. "Mads, it's either your sister, or your mom." "I can't choose between the two most important people in my life!" Mads looked distraught, and torn. "Maddie, get out of the car, and stand next to your mom." Mads was looking straight at him. I must be the only one who can overpower Dad's powers of manipulation. Mads opened the door and stood next to Mom. I was watching Dad smile evilly and walk towards the door of the car.
I put my hands in front of me and thought of the sun, how warm it felt when Mads shone it on me, and how bright it is. I could feel it rushing through my veins, and in slow motion it hit Dad and knocked him away from the car and broke Mads's and Mom's trances. Mads shook her head, grabbed Mom's hand, helped her into the car, and then got in the car, started it, and drove.
