"Hey Conner!" Dad yells. I stop looking back seeing Conner was still in the elevator. "You ran out of batteries or what?" Dad asks.
"I'm sorry, I was making a report to Cyberlife."
"Uh... Well do you plan on staying in the elevator?"
"No! I'm coming." Conner said as Dad started walking to me.
"What do we know about this guy?" Dad said as Conner started walking to us.
"Not much, Just that a neighbor reported that he heard strange noises coming from this floor. Nobody's supposed to be living here, but the neighbor said he saw a LED under his cap." So if it's alone, it really has to be a deviant.
"Oh Christ, if we have to investigate every time someone hears a strange noise, we're gonna need more cops." I nodded as Dad leaned on the wall next to the door. "Hey, were you really makin' a report back there in the elevator? Just by closing your eyes?"
"Correct." Conner said leaning down on the ground I guess analyzing the feather? He stood up going to the door and knocked
"That's cool," I said.
"Wish I could do that." Dad said. Yea, no more paperwork would be awesome. Conner knocks again but harder.
"Anyone home?.....Open up! Detroit Police!" I heard movement. I grabbed my gun, getting ready to knock down the door, but Dad got in front of me.
"Stay behind me," dad said. Conner pulled me back. behind him.
"Got it." dad kicked the door open. He walked in kicking down the hall to the other closed doors. I walked into one room with Conner behind till I heard Dad again.
"What the fuck is this?!" I turned around about to go to him till I bumped into Conner making me about to fall. He gabbed my hand pulling me up. I set my embarrassment aside to go to my father. I walked in seeing a bunch of pigeons. "Jesus, this place sticks..." I walked around placing my hand on the walls. It has like this puzzle I don't understand. I stopped at a poster that was on the wall. UFD? Urban Farms Detroit. I notice the corner having a little fold. I ripped it off, showing a hole. I saw a book, I grabbed it skimming through it. What the heck. It's nothing I can understand.
"Found something?" Dad asks us. I answered.
"I don't know. I found a notebook with stuff I don't really understand," I said putting the notebook in my back pocket. I saw Conner in the kitchen looking through the stuff. I saw him pick up a box for bird food. I walked to Conner, but to the other side looking on the shelf.
"R.T. Probably initials," he said.
"He put his initials on his jacket? That's something your mom does when you're in first grade." Pretty much. Mom did the same to me. I grabbed a card from the shelf. It must be a fake driver license, but it has his name.
"R.T stands for Rupert Travis. Must be his name. The license is fake," I said. Conner came to my side, scanning it, then nodding.
"Cool! At least we didn't come for nothing..." I place it down going to the next room, which was the restroom. I looked on the wall seeing them again. 'rA9'. I went and placed my hand on it. Maybe it will give me a clue of what it is. I heard steps behind me. "Any idea what it means?" Dad said.
"rA9..Written 2471 times..."
"It's the same sign from Ortiz's shower wall," I said moving back to Conner. Conner raised his hand, holding his chin.
"Why are they obsessed with this sign?" The android said rA9 will sent them free. That may be why deviants are obsessed with is, because he/she will be the one who set's them free from slavery.
