I sat on the bench with dad by my side. He was drinking his liquor. I looked at the city in front of us. After what happened at the club, I needed this. I miss this place. I heard foot steps come closer. I looked down. "Nice view, huh? I used to come here a lot before..." Dad said hesitating.
"Can I ask a personal question, Lieutenant?" Conner asks.
"Do all androids ask so many personal questions or is it just you?"
"I saw a photo of a child on your kitchen table." I looked up. "It was your son, (y/n) younger brother, right?" Conner finishes.
"Yeah," I scooted closer to dad leaning on him. "His name was Cole."
"Before what?"
"Hm?"
"You said, 'I used to come here a lot before.' Before what? " Conner ask, looking at him.
"Before..." Dad placed a hand on top of my head moving it a bit. "Before nothin'" Conner walked toward the blue gate, looking out the scene.
"We're not making any progress on this investigation... The deviants have nothing in common. They're all different models, produced at different times, in different places..." Conner say's.
"Well, there must be some link," Dad say's doing some pats on my head.
"What they have in common is this obsession in rA9... It's almost like some kind of...Myth... Something they invented that wasn't part of their original program." I sat back up.
"Androids believing in God." Conner looked back at us. "Fuck, what this world coming to?"
"You seemed preoccupied, Lieutenant. Is it something to do with what happened back at the Eden Club?" Conner ask, facing us.
"Those two girls... They just wanted to be together... They really seemed....In love" I nodded.
"They can simulate human emotions, but they're machines. And machines don't feel anything." I snapped.
"Bullshit!" I said standing up. "Machine or not they can feel! They can have human emotions!"
"(Y/n) be rational. Machines cannot-"
"Well bullshit they can! Those androids we saw at the club had emotion! They were in love! Your so stupid to think after all this that machines don't feel anything huh, huh? What about you, Conner?! You look human, sound human, but what are you then?" I yelled.
"I'm whatever you want me to be, (y/n). Your partner...Your friend... Or just a machine. Designed to accomplish a task," he said, having that concerned, calming expression. I toke a step toward him.
"You could've shot those tow girls Conner, but you didn't," I said, shoving Conner back "Why didn't you shoot, huh? You said you'll do anything to catch a deviant, but you let them go. Some messed up programming in your system?"
"No, I just decided not to shoot. That's all." Decided huh? I pulled out my gun aiming it to his head.
"Shit (Y/n) what's gotten into you?!"
"I can shot you dead Conner." I felt a tear come down. "But, you could come back. As if nothing happen, pretending everything is fine. But Conner, are you afraid to die?" He toke a moment to answer.
"I would certainly find it regrettable to be...interrupted... before I can finish this investigation."
"What happens if I pull the trigger? Tell me Conner, nothing? Android heaven?" He toke a step forward having his forehead touch the pistol.
"You know you're not going to shoot me, (Y/n). You're just trying to provoke a reaction. I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you." I gritted my teeth tight.
"You think you're so fucking smart, huh Conner. How do I know you not a deviant?" I said pissed.
"I self-test regularly. I know what I am, and what I am not." I brought my gun beyond pissed. I tighten my hand hard before putting my gun back in the holster. I walked away wiping the tears that came down my face.
"Where are you going?" Conner ask.
"I need air." I said. I'm done with this shit.
"But you are-"
"Conner stop," Dad said as I kept walking.
