Lexi's POV
"The heir has to be Malfoy. He's in Slytherin, and he's psychotic enough to want to open the Chamber," I shouted, trying to get my friends to see my point. They all nodded, agreeing with me.
"We could use Polyjuice Potion to pretend to be Slytherin students..." Hermione suggested. We gasped, shocked that Hermione would actually think of something so devious. "I'll manage to get a hair from Crabbe, Goyle, Pansy Parkinson and Millicent Bulstrode for us," And with that, Hermione stood up and jogged out of the Common Room.
--a few hours later--
"Okay, done. Everyone, drink your polyjuice potions," Hermione instructed. We all obeyed, scrunching our face up at the taste. A few seconds later, I could feel my face and body start to morph to suit Pansy Parkinson.
Once the morphing was finished, I looked over to Ron and Harry, who were now Crabbe and Goyle, looking over at me in confusion.
"Lexi?" Ron-Crabbe asked. I nodded, new to this new sensation.
"Where's Hermione?" I asked, my new voice frightening me.
"I'm in here," Hermione called out from a bathroom stall. "Go on without me." Ron, Harry and I walked to the stall, cautiously pushing the door open, to find a feline Hermione sitting on the toilet lid, head in her hands. "Go!" Harry, Ron and I rushed away and towards the Slytherin Common Room.
"Okay, we just need to find Malfoy and subtly ask him questions," I looked to Ron and Harry, noticing that Harry was still wearing glasses, "Harry, glasses." He realised, and took them off hastily.
Malfoy was standing in front of the fire in the Common Room when we entered. "Where were you three? I looked for you everywhere!" Malfoy yelled at us.
"Draco," I used his first name, hiding the venom in my voice, "Do you know who could have opened the Chamber?" I added a nice tone to my voice, trying to suck up to Malfoy. This'll scar me for life.
"I don't know, dimwit!" I flinched a little at the insult. "Everyone thinks it's Black, though, after she talked to the snake," I looked confusedly over at Harry-Goyle and Ron-Crabbe. They returned the look with equal confusion. "Although, my father said that it's been 50 years since the Chamber was opened. He wouldn't tell me who opened it, only that they were expelled. The last time the Chamber was opened, a Mudblood died. So, it's only a matter of time until another Mudblood dies. Personally, I hope it's Granger," Harry, Ron and I were holding back as much as we could from lunging at Malfoy. I looked over at Ron to see his hair starting to turn ginger again. I pointed to his head when we made eye contact and he stood up shocked. We all realised that the potion was wearing off, and ran out of the Common Room.
"Where are you three going?!" We heard Malfoy yell behind us. We got to the girl's bathrooms just as we turned back into ourselves.
"Hermione, are you still here?" I called out.
"Yes.." She squeaked, obviously having been crying.
She walked out and I offered to take her to the hospital wing. She nodded and I waled with her, using my cloak to cover her from being seen by other students. Once we reached the hospital wing, the nurses took Hermione away. I asked one nurse how long it'll take for Hermione to return to normal, to which the nurse replied a few weeks. Great. A few weeks without Hermione's brainy suggestions.
I returned to the Gryffindor Common Room and told Ron and Harry about Hermione in the hospital wing. We all shared the same doubt, scared that Hermione may be the next Mudblood.
